Is American democracy under threat? That is what majority of voters say in a new poll
recent poll survey by New York Times and Sienna College revealed that 76% of likely voters believe on the fact that democracy in the US is currently under threat while only 20% of likely voters disagree to that fact. According to The Hill, the survey indicated a division among the Americans regarding the specific nature of threat while 21% attribute the threat to Donald Trump, 14% cite corruption in the government and smaller percentages mentioned issues such as immigration, loss of constitutional liberties and misinformation. The Hill reported that the poll survey also highlighted a spilt in the perceptions of which political party would be better for democracy. 45% of respondents view both the parties as good for democracy, whereas, a significant number believes that Democrats (29%) and Republicans (26%) are certainly detrimental to it.
