US revises down reciprocal tariff on India to 26% from 27%
reciprocal tariffs for India to 26% from 27% announced a day before. Revisions have been made for atleast 14 countries including South Korea, Norway, South Africa and Thailand. As per a White House document, India’s reciprocal tariff was originally listed at 27%, as against the 26% that US president Donald Trump had shown during the announcement on April 2. However, the latest annex document shows that the tariffs have been revised down to 26%. The US’ trading partners will be subject to a global 10% tariff on April 5, after which only the countries listed in the annex would have their rates elevated to the revised numbers. Around 60 countries have been slapped with reciprocal tariffs. The measures announced by the US could lead to an overall contraction of around 1% in global merchandise trade volumes this year, the World Trade Organization (WTO) said Thursday.

Why did Donald Trump spare Russia, North Korea from massive Liberation Day tariffs? Here's the reason he cited
The rationale, as given by White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, was that US sanctions already prohibit «meaningful trade» with these nations, so further tariffs were not needed, according to Axios. But although this argument may make sense, the US continues to trade more with Russia than with nations such as Mauritius or Brunei, which did find themselves on Trump's tariff list, reported Axios.

Elon Musk's SpaceX launches first human spacecraft led by Chinese entrepreneur on crewed polar orbit
Elon Musk's SpaceX on Monday launchd a crew of four private astronauts led by a crypto entrepreneur on a mission to orbit Earth from pole to pole, a novel trajectory in which no humans have traveled before. Maltese investor Chun Wang, a Chinese-born magnate who founded a bitcoin mining company, is the bankroller and commander of the SpaceX mission, named Fram2, a reference to the Norwegian «Fram» ship that pioneered Arctic exploration at the turn of the 20th century. The four crew members on Monday afternoon were driven to the launchpad in a caravan of Teslas — the electric cars of Musk's other company — winding through the roads of Cape Canaveral, Florida, with a police escort, as a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket launched overhead in an unrelated Starlink mission. «We're gonna watch a rocket launch while on our way to a rocket launch,» Wang wrote on X, the social media site owned by Musk, alongside a video of a Falcon 9 climbing the skies to space during their drive. The mission, SpaceX's sixth private astronaut flight, is the company's latest novel effort that expands its dominance in the global human spaceflight arena. It comes as Musk's power as SpaceX CEO and the world's richest man soars as he works as a close adviser to U.S. President Donald Trump, a role that has given him extraordinary influence for a businessman over an array of U.S. policy matters.

SpaceX to launch private astronauts on first crewed polar orbit
SpaceX is set to launch the first human spaceflight directly over Earth's polar regions on Monday — a days-long, privately funded orbital mission involving four astronauts. Named «Fram2» after the famed Norwegian ship built in the 19th century for Arctic and Antarctic expeditions, the mission will feature a range of experiments including taking the first X-ray in space and growing mushrooms in microgravity. It's hoped that the research will support future long-duration space travel to Mars.

European orbital rocket crashes after launch
The Spectrum rocket, developed by German start-up Isar Aerospace, started smoking from its sides, then crashed back to Earth with a powerful explosion just after launching from Norway's Andoya Spaceport in the Arctic, in live video broadcast on YouTube. Isar Aerospace, which had said it did not expect to reach orbit with the launch, said the two-stage rocket fell into the sea, adding that «the launch pad seems to be intact». Andoya Space, the Norwegian public firm that operates the spaceport, said «crisis response» measures had been activated following the «incident». Regional police said no injuries or damage beyond the rocket itself had been reported.

Dollar hovers ahead of PCE and tariff onslaught
dollar was headed for a steady week on Friday and a quarterly loss next week as concern about tariffs slowing U.S. growth has pushed down U.S. yields, stocks and the currency. The euro, at just below $1.08, was headed for its largest quarterly rise in more than a year, gaining more than 4% since the start of 2025 on a combination of peace prospects in Ukraine, dollar weakness, and a leap in benchmark German yields.

The US lifts bounties on senior Taliban officials, including Sirajuddin Haqqani, says Kabul
Sirajuddin Haqqani, who acknowledged planning a January 2008 attack on the Serena Hotel in Kabul, which killed six people, including US citizen Thor David Hesla, no longer appears on the State Department's Rewards for Justice website. The FBI website on Sunday still featured a wanted poster for him. Interior Ministry spokesman Abdul Mateen Qani said the U.S. government had revoked the bounties placed on Haqqani, Abdul Aziz Haqqani, and Yahya Haqqani. «These three individuals are two brothers and one paternal cousin,» Qani told the Associated Press. The Haqqani network grew into one of the deadliest arms of the Taliban after the U.S.-led 2001 invasion of Afghanistan.
