Rohit Sharma’s toss turmoil creates a ‘lost’ streak that matches this cricket legend
This streak, which has persisted since November 2023, reached its peak during the ICC Champions Trophy final against New Zealand in Dubai, with Lara's record having been established between October 1998 and May 1999. In the final match, New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner won the toss and opted to bat first, facing an unchanged Indian lineup. However, New Zealand's pace bowler Matt Henry was ruled out due to a shoulder injury sustained during the semi-final against South Africa, leading to Nathan Smith stepping in as his replacement.

There's plenty we've taken from the defeat to India in group stage: NZ opener Will Young
Will Young is focused on exploiting Rohit Sharma's side's weaknesses in the Champions Trophy final here on Sunday. Young has given a solid starts to the Black Caps in the Champions Trophy alongside Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra and he will be one of the key batters in the high-stakes final. «There is plenty we can take from that (group match defeat to India) in a scouting point of view, especially in my eyes as a batter, but I am sure the bowlers got a good look at their (India) batters as well and how they are likely to approach things,» Young told ICC about the 44-run defeat to India on March 2 at the same venue. «It was a great opportunity to see the style of cricket they will bring, especially at that venue and in those conditions,» he added.

Champions Trophy: David Miller backs New Zealand after ‘not ideal’ semifinal scheduling
David Miller said his team’s hop to Dubai and back ahead of t h e i r Champions Trophy semifinal defeat to New Zealand in Lahore was “not ideal”. The tangled scheduling of the event came into question as Australia and South Africa both had to fly to Dubai from Pakistan ahead of the semi-finals. South Africa were there for less than 24 hours before jetting back again without playing a game. Australia stayed and lost in the last four to India. The haphazard scheduling was a result of India playing all their games in Dubai after refusing to travel to Pakistan. “It’s only an hour and 40 minute flight, but the fact that we had to do that was not ideal,” Miller said after South Africa lost to New Zealand on Wednesday by 50 runs. South Africa made what was ultimately a wasted trip soon after defeating England in Karachi on Saturday. “It’s early morning, it’s after a game and we had to fly. Then we got to Dubai at 4:00 pm. And at 7.30 am we had to come back. It doesn’t make it nice.

India seeks Rupee’s global reach, but no plan to replace US dollar: EAM S Jaishankar
External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar, currently on a visit to the United Kingdom, has addressed key global economic issues, including the role of the US dollar, BRICS' position on de-dollarisation, and the internationalisation of the Indian rupee. Speaking at Chatham House in London, he dismissed speculation that India is working to replace the US dollar as the world’s primary reserve currency. «I don't think there's any policy on our part to replace the dollar. As I said, at the end of the day, the dollar as the reserve currency is the source of international economic stability, and right now, what we want in the world is more economic stability, not less,» he said.
