Equitable survival: Climate action needs to be gender just
The European Court of Human Rights recently ruled in favour of KlimaSeniorinnen (Senior Women for Climate Protection), an association of more than 2,000 Swiss women, all above the age of 64, who had filed a case against the Swiss government for its failure to cut greenhouse gas emissions, which has put them at a greater risk of dying during heatwaves because of their age and gender. The ruling made the Swiss government accountable for violating its citizens’ Right to Life and Health, and created a binding legal precedent for all 46 countries that are part of the European Convention on Human Rights.

Infant food formulation done on global basis, racial stereotype charges unfortunate: Nestle
Nestle India Chairman & Managing Director Suresh Narayanan on Monday asserted that the company's infant food formulation for children below 18 months is done on a global basis and the allegation that «it is racially stereotyped is unfortunate» and untrue. Addressing reporters here, he said the amount of sugar content in infant foods is determined by the capability to meet the nutrition profile of a particular age group and that is universal. Nestle India's added sugar content in Cerelac is much lower than the upper limit prescribed by FSSAI, he added. «There is nothing in this product that makes it a product that is potentially of any risk or any kind of harm to the child,» he said.
