What does Keir Starmer's win mean for the Khalistan issue?
Labour Party in a parliamentary election, the party will come to power after 14 years under its leader Keir Starmer. The center-left party's stance on India has traditionally leaned towards separatist movements. While it had backed the separatist movement in J&K, many of its leaders are known for promoting Khalistan. The party's resolution during an annual conference under former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn in favour of international intervention in Kashmir was widely seen as having cost it British Indian votes in the 2019 general election. The Labour Party has been seen as «anti-India» by many. In 2021, it was branded “divisive” and “anti-India” by many in the Indian diaspora after a party leaflet for a by-election in northern England used an image of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The leaflet showed Modi in a handshake with then Conservative Party Prime Minister Boris Johnson at the G7 Summit in 2019 with the message “Don't risk a Tory MP who is not on your side”. It triggered furious reactions across social media after Tory MP Richard Holden posted an image of it on Twitter, questioning whether it implies that Labour Leader Sir Keir Starmer would not be seen in a handshake with the Indian Prime Minister.

Greenko arm cancels dollar bond issue, to tap bank loans
Greenko Mauritius, a subsidiary of Greenko Energy Holdings, has decided not to proceed with its planned dollar bond issuance that had sought to refinance a $425-million bank loan. The company, which is into renewable energy sources, will now seek alternative bank borrowing instead, Fitch Ratings said, while withdrawing the 'BB' rating assigned to the proposed bond. Initially, the proposed notes, rated 'BB' by Fitch and 'Ba2' by Moody's, were expected to price a 3.5-year bond under 7%. However, earlier this year, Greenko Mauritius deferred the bond due to interest rate volatility. The $425-million bridge loan remains outstanding and is due by September 30, 2024.

Biden needs to buck up; donors set a two-week deadline to increase the approval ratings
US Democratic party are reported to have given a two-week grace period to Biden to improve his approval rating on the various national surveys. This comes in wake of what many are considering to be a disastrous performance by Biden in the last presidential debate. Many donors indicated that it will be tough for them to stomach Biden’s falling numbers and possible loss in the presidential election. Biden seem to be confident of his chances and has refused to step down from the contest against Trump. The donors have asked Biden to take action and fix the falling survey numbers, according to the New York Post.
