UPS Booking War Diversity country reports The diplomats who built India’s foreign policy
Nehru’s First Recruits: The Diplomats Who Built Independent India’s Foreign Policy, is a reminder that India’s foreign policy did not take shape in the hands of the current external affairs ministry, but has been built on a long legacy of a storied foreign service founded in 1948 by India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. As the title suggests, Bhattacherjee’s book is about India’s very first diplomats, the men and women recruited to the Indian Foreign Service (IFS) in the first dozen years after independence who helped shaped an independent foreign policy for a country that had been a British colony for nearly two centuries.

markets Compilation Volatility hits robusta coffee as prices slump from recent high
Robusta coffee slid in London, pulling back from last week’s high, amid a US holiday that contributed to volatile prices. Futures had soared to the highest since the 1970s on concerns about tighter supplies out of Vietnam and Brazil due to unfavorable weather. Prices topped $5,000 a ton on Friday, pushing robusta’s relative-strength index toward overbought territory. The commodity slipped as much as 5.5% on Monday. “We are in a low stock environment, which guarantees volatility,” said Carlos Mera, an analyst at Rabobank. Waves Manufacturing Trade country Department rights Investigations Solar panel makers seek retroactive duties, citing import surge
The companies, in a filing disclosed Thursday, have asked the Commerce Department to apply the duties right away, amid a surge in imports from Vietnam and Thailand. An existing trade case already poses the risk of anti-dumping and countervailing duties, but the new filing raises the prospect of duties being imposed even before a final decision in the case. If imports have surged during a trade investigation, the government can determine that “critical circumstances” exist — a finding that paves the way for such retroactive tariffs. Companies importing panels and cells would need to post cash deposits while awaiting a final decision in the trade case.
