Elon Musk embraces Donald Trump and scorns subsidies. But Tesla still lobbies for US benefits
Elon Musk endorsed Donald Trump for president last month, the Tesla founder and chief executive backed a candidate who vows to «drill, baby, drill,» «end the electric vehicle mandate» and reduce subsidies of the sort that helped Tesla become the U.S.'s dominant EV manufacturer. So instrumental have government loans, tax breaks and other EV policies been to Tesla's fast growth that despite Musk's gradual embrace of the former president and his Republican Party rhetoric in recent years, the company continues to lobby the U.S. and state governments for benefits championed by the Democratic Party. In February, for instance, Tesla in a filing with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, or EPA, urged the Biden administration to allow California to pursue stricter vehicle emissions rules than the rest of the country — an idea Trump opposes.

Kamala Harris says she supports eliminating taxes on tips, like Trump
Kamala Harris told supporters in Nevada on Saturday she supported eliminating taxes on tips, taking a similar position to her rival Donald Trump in an effort to win over service workers, an important constituency in the state. Harris and her Democratic running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, wrapped up a multi-day tour of battleground states on Saturday with their stop in Nevada, a western state that could play a pivotal role in the Nov. 5 presidential election. «It is my promise to everyone here when I am president we will continue to fight for working families, including to raise the minimum wage and eliminate taxes on tips for service and hospitality workers,» Harris said.

Will Indian investors become impacted if the US became the world’s Bitcoin superpower?
Donald Trump, former US President and GOP presidential nominee delivered his speech at the Bitcoin 2024 conference, it soon made headlines all across the world. Trump reiterated his plan to establish his country as the “Crypto Capital” and “Bitcoin Superpower” of the world — providing much hope to American crypto enthusiasts. Since Bitcoin was released, it has grown rapidly to become the top new asset class in the world. While world governments did not perceive it as a financial changemaker asset at first, the significant adoption rates globally have forced them to think otherwise. For instance, the US government did not have a high opinion of BTC and other cryptocurrencies in the past decade, but the scenario has changed drastically since then as Trump pledged to create a “strategic reserve” of Bitcoin for the US government. Additionally, Trump raised a significant amount of Bitcoin campaign funding which helped to bolster his claims as BTC price soared thereafter.

Trump is putting mass deportations at the heart of his campaign. Some Republicans are worried
Mass Deportation Now!" declared the signs at the Republican National Convention, giving a full embrace to Donald Trump's pledge to expel millions of migrants in the largest deportation program in American history. Some Republicans aren't quite ready for that. Lauren B. Pena, a Republican activist from Texas, said that hearing Trump's calls for mass deportations, as well as terms like «illegals» and «invasion» thrown around at the convention, made her feel uncomfortable. Like some Republicans in Congress who have advanced balanced approaches to immigration, she hopes Trump is just blustering.

Elon Musk's misleading election posts viewed 1.2 billion times: study
X by Elon Musk have amassed nearly 1.2 billion views this year, a watchdog reported Thursday, highlighting the billionaire's potential influence on the highly polarized White House race. Ahead of the November election, researchers have raised alarm that X, formerly Twitter, is a hotbed of political misinformation. They have also flagged that Musk, who purchased the platform in 2022 and is a vocal backer of Donald Trump, appears to be swaying voters by spreading falsehoods on his personal account.

Donald Trump signals interest in influencing Federal Reserve decisions if he regains White House
Donald Trump said on Thursday that U.S. presidents should have a say over decisions made by the Federal Reserve, the most explicit indication so far of his interest in infringing on the central bank's independence should he regain the White House. «I feel the president should have at least (a) say in there,» the former president told reporters at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida. «I think that in my case, I made a lot of money, I was very successful, and I think I have a better instinct than in many cases, people that would be on the Federal Reserve or the chairman.» Trump allies have drafted proposals that would attempt to erode the Fed's independence if he wins, the Wall Street Journal reported in April. The Trump campaign distanced itself from the report at the time.
