The Union Cabinet approved the proposal of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade for Uttar Poorva Transformative Industrialization Scheme, 2024 (UNNATI – 2024) for a period of 10 years from the date of notification along with 8 years for committed liabilities at a total cost of Rs.10,037 crore.

NEW DELHI : India’s mobile phone exports are expected to cross ₹1.2 trillion at the end of this financial year, reaching a major milestone propelled by the government’s thrust on phone makers such as Apple and Samsung to manufacture locally. The exports would account for nearly one-third of the total domestic production of mobile phones, projected at about ₹4.1 trillion in FY24, the Indian Cellular and Electronics Association said on Thursday.

NEW DELHI : The Union cabinet on Thursday approved the extension of the ₹300-subsidy on cooking gas cylinders for beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana scheme for the next financial year (FY25). The subsidy was to end this fiscal year. The extension would lead to an outgo of ₹12,000 crore for the government.

Election Commission has asked former Congress president Rahul Gandhi to be more careful in his public utterances in the wake of his ‘panauti’ (bad omen) and ‘pickpocket’ jibes at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, news agency PTI reported on Wednesday citing sources. The report said the election commission also asked the senior Congress leader to follow its recent advisory for star campaigners and political leaders in the right earnest during the election campaign.

The CBI got the custody of Sheikh Shahjahan on Wednesday. The Trinamool Congress leader, who is the prime accused in the Sandeshkhali ED official attack case, was handed over by state CID hours after a new order by the Calcutta High Court earlier in the day. After the medical examination, Shahjahan was handed over to CBI at the Bhabani Bhaban Police Headquarters. Earlier in the day, the Calcutta High Court stated that the investigation into the attack on ED officials should be transferred to the CBI, and the custody of the accused Sheikh Shahjahan should be arranged promptly.

Election Commission of India (ECI) on Wednesday issued an advisory to Congress MP Rahul Gandhi to be more careful and cautious in the future, in his remarks on leaders including the Prime Minister. The election governing body said that the advisory comes after considering all facts in the matter related to certain remarks against Prime Minister, including Delhi High Court order and Gandhi's reply. Delhi High Court on December 21 said that Congress MP Rahul Gandhi’s speech given on November 22 against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling him a 'pickpocket' was 'not in good taste'. The court directed the Election Commission to decide the matter within 8 weeks.

Agra Metro was inaugurated virtually by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday as Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and other leaders took the inaugural train ride from the Taj Mahal station to Taj Mahal East station here.
