Consequently, the trade deficit fell to $19.37 billion, down over 30% from $27.98 billion a year ago, commerce ministry data showed.

The central election committee (CEC) of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) is learnt to have finalised the candidates for about 60 of the total 90 assembly segments in Chhattisgarh, and with more CEC sittings scheduled, the AICC could start announcing the candidates in batches from Sunday as the 'Shraadh' period is ending on Saturday, people familiar with the development said. The party may also try to field more women and youths while giving numerical prominence to Scheduled Tribes and other backward classes, keeping in mind the social demography of the state.
