Air India has sold four of its last remaining Boeing 747-400 jumbo jetliners, marking the end of an era that had once thrust the airline to the global league. People familiar with the matter said the four aircraft have been sold to US company AerSale, a supplier of aftermarket commercial jet engines and parts. While two aircraft are likely to be converted to freighters, two will be disassembled for their parts, the people said. Vman Aviation Services, a Mumbai-based company, will manage the transfer of the planes to AerSale.

Apple has formed a joint venture with renewable energy developer CleanMax to invest in six rooftop solar projects to power its India operations, the US company said Wednesday. The solar project will have a total size of 14.4 megawatts, which will provide a local solution to power the company’s offices and the two retail stores in Mumbai and New Delhi, the Cupertino-based smartphone major said in a statement. The company didn’t provide any financial details.

MUMBAI : The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has proposed that non-banks offering physical point of sale services (PoS) must notify the regulator of their intent to seek authorization within 60 days, and then submit their application by 31 May 2025, for approval to continue operations. “…they shall be allowed to continue their operations till they receive communication from the RBI regarding (the) fate of their application," the regulator said in a draft circular late on Tuesday.

Calcutta High Court has passed an interim order in the case between NYSE-listed UpHealth Holdings and Kolkata-based Glocal Healthcare Systems. The high court has asked Glocal's promoters and shareholders, including former Sebi chairman M Damodaran to file affidavits of their assets and disclose their liabilities. The court also rejected Damodaran's plea to be absolved from any liability in the case. UpHealth, a digital health company, acquired a 95% stake in Glocal in 2020. The dispute started after UpHealth claimed their right to two directors on the board of Glocal as per the share purchase agreement (SPA) in September 2022, which was defeated in an extraordinary general meeting (EGM).

The reasons behind this were increasing awareness and a growing interest among retail investors for parking cash in equities and bonds through the mutual fund route, according to a release by ICRA Analytics. The opening up of branches of fund houses beyond the top 30 towns is also encouraging more people to look at these as a suitable investment vehicle. This is also evident from the surge in the number of folios, said ICRA Analytics. The retail investors account for a major share of the total number of folios. According to the quarterly data on folio and ticket size available on the AMFI website, the retail investors accounted for nearly 91.3% of the 16.49 folios in the industry as on December 2023, at 15.06 lakh crore. The HNIs account for around 8% at 1.33 lakh crore while institutional investors account for less than 1% at 0.11 lakh crore.
