Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has penalized five banks, including Punjab National Bank (PNB), in the first week of July for non-compliance with various RBI directions. PNB became the fifth bank to be penalized, with a penalty of Rs 1.31 crore. As per provisions of BNSS, the fact as to who has been informed about the arrest shall be recorded in a police station register in such form as the state government may provide. «Provision has also been made to enable the medical practitioner conducting medical examination of an arrested person to conduct one more examination if such practitioner deems it fit. Clause 58 of BNSS says that an arrestee may be produced before a magistrate within the first 24 hours of arrest even if such magistrate does not have jurisdiction,» said an official.
