Air emergency: Central health advisory for city schools, students call for use of public transport, bicycles
air emergency in the national capital, the Union Health Ministry on Friday issued an advisory for children in Delhi and neighbouring states amid mounting pollution concerns and toxic air days that have emerged as a clear and present danger to public health. However, in a measure of respite from the smog or toxic cloud that has been hanging heavy over the national capital in the last week and more, the city on Friday received showers that saw the overall Air Quality Index (AQI) drop below 400. The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) pegged the city's overall AQI at 398 at 10.30 am on Friday. The central health advisory on Friday laid particular emphasis on children, as it advised school authorities, heads, teachers as well as parents to develop mechanisms to create awareness and motivate students to adopt better practices to mitigate and adapt to air pollution. The ministry said schools should organise awareness events and award children for taking up mitigation practices to fight air pollution. «Areas: Cities and urban areas are more likely to have outside pollution levels.

I see a very bright future for the economy driven by infrastructure and realty: Raamdeo Agrawal
Raamdeo Agrawal, Chairman, Motilal Oswal Group, says “there is a long-term trend to allocate more for defence, and these defence companies are monopolistic, though they are public sector. So there is a little bit of challenge but there are well-run public sector, monopolistic, high return on capital companies and all and their dividend policy is better than private sector’s. You have an opportunity there. But you have to be a little bit more careful where the action is. So, you have to decide company-wise.” This year our theme for Diwali is Yeh Diwali Muskaan Wali. Looking back, do you have a smile on your face on how the year has been? Yes, we have forgotten Covid because there is so much smile.

Delhi NCR sees sudden change in weather, receives light rain
Delhi NCR received light rainfall on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday, bringing a much-needed respite from the increased air pollution in the national capital. The visuals from the Kartavya Path and the Delhi-Noida border showed light to moderate-intensity rain showers. The rainfall in the national capital comes amid the Delhi government's ongoing efforts to implement the idea of 'artificial rain' to curtail the pollution situation in the city. On Thursday, the Delhi government decided to carry out 'artificial rain' to combat the air pollution in the city, said officials. Meanwhile, the Delhi government has also fielded ministers to ensure the implementation of anti-pollution measures. As part of the inspection process, several Delhi ministers were seen on Thursday inspecting different areas and borders connecting Delhi to neighbouring states. Currently, Stage IV of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) has been implemented in the national capital after the city's air quality plummeted to the 'severe plus' category.
