The best and worst airlines in the world; this Indian airline made it to the bottom of the list
travel this year. The 2024 AirHelp Score report has ranked airlines globally based on a comprehensive methodology evaluating customer experience, operational efficiency, and feedback. The rankings cover data from January to October. According to AirHelp CEO Tomasz Pawliszyn, the goal of the rankings is to «encourage airlines to continuously listen to passenger feedback.» Among Indian carriers, IndiGo, the country’s largest airline by market share, ranked poorly at No. 103. The low ranking is attributed to its underwhelming performance in customer satisfaction and flight disruption claims.

Opportunities are also opening up for neutral players such as Sify Technologies and Lightstorm — that offer cheaper landing infrastructure in India compared with telecom incumbents such as Airtel and Tata Communications, say industry insiders. Google is set to commission its Blue-Raman Submarine Cable System in Mumbai in the first quarter of 2025, people aware of the development told ET. The $400-million, 218-Tbps (terabits per second) capacity project entails investment by Italy's Sparkle too, among others. With Blue and Raman, Google now has 18 investments in subsea cables globally.

'Tandoori a**': Woman harasses Indian-American on flight, removed by airline
United Airlines airport shuttle bus after a confrontation with a family on November 24. Pervez Taufiq, a wedding photographer traveling with his wife and three sons from Cancun to Los Angeles, recorded the incident. The dispute began on the flight, allegedly involving the woman and Taufiq’s son. The situation escalated on the shuttle bus. Video footage shows the woman saying to Taufiq: “Your family is from India, you have no respect, you have no rules, you think you can push everyone, push, push, push. That’s what you think you are. You guys are f****** crazy.” She also threatened to record his “f–king tandoori ass” after Taufiq referenced earlier comments she made about curry. Taufiq posted the video on Instagram, stating the woman had harassed his son on the flight and told him to “shut up” on the bus. He said her husband then confronted him. Taufiq stated that United Airlines staff removed the woman from the bus after a bystander confirmed she initiated the incident.

IndiGo drags Mahindra Electric to court for trademark infringement of its 6E code
InterGlobe Aviation, which runs the largest airline IndiGo, on Tuesday moved the Delhi High Court alleging trademark infringement of its Air Transport Association code ‘6E’ by Mahindra Electric Automobiles. The airline accused the automaker of using the mark ‘6E’ in its upcoming electric sports utility vehicle (SUV) Mahindra BE 6e, which it claimed to be similar to its trademark ‘6E.’ Mahindra BE 6E, which has generated buzz for its unique design and tech loaded features, is expected to hit the roads in February next year. While Justice Amit Bansal recused himself from the hearing the case, senior counsel Sandeep Sethi informed the court that Mahindra had reached out to the airline on Monday and an effort was being made to discuss the matter.

Not everyone can afford extra seat: Artistes voice concern over Air India baggage rule
musical instruments as cabin luggage has Indian artistes concerned who flagged the larger issue of baggage mishandling that allegedly ails all airlines across the board. Days after Zubin Balaporia, keyboardist of Indus Creed band, took to Facebook against Air India's «extremely discriminating policy». Other musicians have also shared their concerns about the way musical instruments are handled by airlines, resulting in damaged or lost luggage at times. «Earlier we were allowed to carry a guitar on board. Now they have stopped this and are asking musicians to pay for an extra seat for the guitar. This is ridiculous. Vistara used to allow guitars on board and IndiGo still does. Come on Air India — TATA Group. Why have such a mercenary attitude. Surely you help in promoting the arts. Have a heart and regain your soul,» Balaporia wrote on the social media platform. Meanwhile, a statement by Air India to PTI clarified that the airline has not changed its policies on carriage of items, including musical instruments inside the cabin conforming to the stipulated dimensions.
