Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) will release a new module for issuance of new khatas to developers of apartments and commercial buildings projects in about a week's time for new properties which do not have BBMP Khatas. «Earlier, the builders/developers used to sell individual units, and the buyers would later apply for khatas. Now we will issue e-khatas for all units in one go to developers,» BBMP Special Commissioner (Revenue) Munish Moudgil told ET. The BBMP would issue as many e-khatas to the developer as he wants as per approved plan, who would in turn pass them on to individual buyers through a registered sale deed. This applies to all sorts of new property developments such as housing, commercial and mixed-use involving multiple units, the BBMP special commissioner said.

Department of Financial Services (DFS) has directed banks to adopt advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML), to safeguard customers from fraudsters. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Raghav Chadha brought attention to a series of ongoing issues with air travel in India, stating that the government has failed to deliver on its promise of affordable domestic airfares. Speaking in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday during a discussion on the Bharatiya Vayuyan Vidheyak, Chadha highlighted the numerous challenges passengers face, from rising ticket prices to overcrowded airports and high baggage charges. Chadha began by emphasising that economy class, once regarded as an affordable option for the average traveller, is no longer economically viable. Quoting his own experience, Chadha pointed out that airfares for domestic flights have reached unreasonably high levels. «Economy class is no longer economical. Before coming to the debate in this house today, I was checking flight rates on my phone. If I have to travel from Delhi to Mumbai tomorrow, the ticket costs 14,000 rupees. The cheapest one-way ticket from Delhi to Patna is 12,000 rupees, and from Delhi to Bangalore, it’s 16,000 rupees,» Chadha said. He added, «And forget that, just the day before yesterday, I travelled from my region Punjab to Delhi. I took a flight from Mohali Airport to Chandigarh Airport and reached Delhi. The ticket for that flight was 14,500 rupees.»

Alliance Air will operate two flights a week from Guwahati to Ziro in Arunachal Pradesh, an official said on Tuesday. The domestic carrier will operate flights on Mondays and Wednesdays, Lower Subansiri deputy commissioner Vivek HP said. The flight will depart from Guwahati at 12.10 pm and land in Ziro at 1.25 pm. The return flight from Ziro will leave for Guwahati at 1.50 pm and reach there at 3.05 pm. Ziro has established itself as a MICE tourism destination, and with the beginning of the direct flights from Guwahati to Ziro, tourism in the valley will receive a boost, he said.

Ayushman Bharat scheme is to address the distinct challenges faced by senior citizens and to reduce the economic vulnerabilities of this group, the Rajya Sabha was informed on Tuesday. Responding to a question, Union Health Minister J P Nadda said that on October 29, 2024, the government expanded Ayushman Bharat — Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) to provide free treatment benefits of up to Rs 5 lakh per year to all aged 70 years and above, irrespective of their socio-economic status. «The aim of this expansion is to address the distinct challenges faced by senior citizens, including limited access to affordable healthcare and a significant disease burden. Many elderly individuals suffer from chronic illnesses and disabilities, highlighting the urgent need for targeted healthcare interventions,» he said. The initiative also strives to reduce the economic vulnerabilities of this group, as a substantial portion is no longer employed, leading to high dependency on others, Nadda said.
