9 separatist outfits supporting terror groups have bases in Canada; India's deportation requests ignored: Officials
Canada and despite multiple deportation requests Ottawa has taken no action against those involved in heinous crimes including the killing of popular Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, officials here said on Tuesday. They said that pro-Khalistani outfits such as the World Sikh Organization (WSO), Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF), Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) and Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) working at the behest of Pakistan have been allegedly operating freely form the Canadian soil. They said allegations levelled against India by the Canadian authorities and politicians in relation to the murder of Canadian citizen Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a Khalistani terrorist, are incorrect and based on unsubstantiated assumptions. The issue of deportations of wanted terrorists and gangsters have been raised by Indian authorities at multiple diplomatic and security talks but the Canadian authorities remained non-committal and brazen in support of these terror elements, the officials said. Multiple dossiers have been handed over to the Canadian side but India's deportation requests have gone unaddressed, they said, adding at least nine separatist organisations supporting terror groups have found their bases in Canada. Eight individuals involved in terror activities and as many gangsters, who have been conspiring with Pakistan's ISI, have found a safe haven in Canada, the officials said. They said that deportation requests for these people — including Gurwant Singh who was involved in terrorist activities in early 1990s — have been pending with the Canadian authorities for years now.

London's culinary classics: Unravelling the unique connection between curry, crime, and the Criterion
The Times of India reported it “was crowded by the representatives of almost every phase of London’s life”. It was meant to be a meeting point for anyone interested in India — and Indian food. Even after curry houses started opening across Britain, serving their versions of Indian food, the India Club’s restaurant was known for more authentic desi food. But time, and London’s soaring real estate market, have caught up with the India Club, and it is due to close today. This is sad, but no reflection on the popularity of real Indian food in the UK, as another opening shows. Masala Zone, an outpost of the UK restaurant group partly led by Indian hospitality legend Camellia Panjabi, has opened at The Criterion, one of the city’s most fabled restaurant locations.

The Rolling Stones show no inkling of gathering moss
Rockstars can be confusing, conflicting, and seen to be regularly contradicting each other in what older legends once called 'being dialectical'. Much like religions. Classic rock legends Jethro Tull got it all wrong when they famously titled their 1976 album, Too Old to Rock 'n' Roll: Too Young to Die! The living proof of that error is the Rolling Stones. Last week, the Stones released the single, 'Angry', from their forthcoming album, Hackney Diamonds — their 26th studio album and with new material after 18 years — due for release on October 20.

Iconic Colombian artist Fernando Botero passes away at 91
Botero, whose sculptures and paintings of playful, rotund subjects in sometimes harrowing situations made him one of the world's richest artists, has died at 91. Heralded as South America's answer to Picasso, Botero also tackled violence and political topics, including Colombia's internal conflicts, as well as portraying daily life. His works have featured in exhibitions across the world. His canvases and sculptures sell for more than $2 million each, according to Sotheby's. The artist's bodacious subjects were portrayed in everyday situations — a corpulent naked woman lounging on a bed or a stout man riding a humorously out-sized horse — but served the artist's more serious goal of transporting the reader to what he called a «superlative dimension», where commonplace situations took on exaggerated proportions. Despite the comic plumpness of many of his creations, the artist never shied away from serious subject matter — his series of paintings about the Abu Ghraib prison scandal generated discussion across the art world. «Fernando Botero has died, the painter of our traditions and defects, the painter of our virtues.

Nintendo to launch 'Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door' on Switch. Check release date
Nintendo has exciting news for fans of «Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door», as the beloved RPG is making its way to the Nintendo Switch. This announcement was made during the September 2023 Nintendo Direct event. Players can anticipate a remake of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, originally released for the GameCube. The game is slated for release on the Nintendo Switch in 2024, offering improved graphics and other enhancements, according to Nintendo. This remastered version of the highly acclaimed RPG, developed by Intelligent Systems, provides a new generation with the opportunity to experience its unique charm. As part of the well-established Paper Mario series, Thousand-Year Door skillfully combines stunning 3D animation with distinctive 2D visuals. This news follows the earlier announcement of a remake of the Super Mario RPG, revealed during a Nintendo Direct in June. Fans have long clamored for the return of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, citing its delightful writing, robust RPG gameplay, and limited availability outside of the GameCube platform. Nintendo appears to be catering to fans of classic RPGs, as they are set to launch a remade version of the original Super Mario RPG in November. The unveiling of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door coincided with the announcement of F-Zero 99, Unicorn Overlord, and a Tomb Raider Remastered Collection during the Nintendo Direct event. This addition adds to the excitement generated by the earlier announcement of a remake of Super Mario RPG, which was also featured during the showcase. For a comprehensive list of all the reveals made during the event, be sure to check out «Everything Announced.»
