They think the Hindus will vote for them but today the Hindus have changed. First they (BJP) sought votes in the name of Ram and now they want to intimidate them,» Abdullah charged. He was speaking to reporters at Naseembagh mausoleum of National Conference founder Sheikh Muhammad Abdulla after paying tributes to the party founder on his 42nd death anniversary.

Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that thegovernment has discussed on the recommendations of Justice (Retd) Biplab Sarma Commission, which was constituted by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, to implement Clause 6 of the Assam Accord. State government will in consultation with All Assam Students Union (AASU) will implement 52 by April 2025. Sarma said that there will be regular meeting with AASU. “There will consultation with sixth schedule councils and people in Barak valley. However, for implementing these recommendations in Brahmaputra valley we do not require any consultation with this bodies.” Assam government stated after detailed consideration, Cabinet has accorded approval to implement 57 out of the 67 recommendations made by the Commission. For the remaining 10 recommendations, in-depth discussions will be held with the Government of India. These recommendations will be applicable across the State except 6th Schedule areas and Barak Valley. In these regions, the recommendations will be implemented only after concurrence of the authorities and the people in those regions.

Jaishankar will on Sunday embark on a six-day visit to Saudi Arabia, Germany and Switzerland with a larger aim to boost overall bilateral ties and deliberate on pressing regional and global challenges. He will first travel to the Saudi capital Riyadh on a two-day trip primarily to attend the first India-Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) foreign ministers' meeting, according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). The GCC is an influential grouping comprising the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar and Kuwait. The total volume of India's trade with GCC countries stood at USD 184.46 billion in the financial year 2022-23. In Riyadh, Jaishankar is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with foreign ministers of several GCC member countries.

Ukraine's foreign ministry said on Saturday it was deeply concerned by reports about a possible impending transfer of Iranian ballistic missiles to Russia. In a statement emailed to reporters, the ministry said the deepening military co-operation between Tehran and Moscow was a threat to Ukraine, Europe and the Middle East, and called on the international community to increase pressure on Iran and Russia. Warren Curtis Grant, died after a shooting in a bathroom at Joppatowne High School in Maryland on Friday, September 6. The Harford County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the incident and Grant’s subsequent death later that day. The shooting occurred during a dispute between two students in a first-floor men’s bathroom. The 16-year-old suspect fled but was quickly apprehended nearby. Sheriff Jeff Gahler detailed the incident at a news conference, stating, «The shooting took place in a first-floor men's bathroom. After the initial shooting, the suspect left the bathroom [and] left the school.» The victim received immediate medical attention from school nurses and was airlifted to a trauma center in serious condition. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries.
