Delhi High Court upholds rejection of Reebok India's conversion to Limited Liability Company
Delhi High Court has upheld the Registrar of Companies’ order that rejected conversion of Reebok India Company from an “Unlimited Liability Company" to a "Limited Liability Company". Dismissing Reebok India's petition, Justice Subramonium Prasad said that the reasons given by the RoC in rejecting the Reebok’s application on the ground that various prosecutions have been filed by the Serious Fraud Investigation Office against it for offences under the Companies Act and the Indian Penal Code cannot said to be so perverse, especially keeping in mind the interest of shareholders and the interest of creditors. «The anxiety on the part of the RoC that the creditors and stakeholder should not be left high and dry cannot be said to be completely unjustified,» Justice Prasad said.

Surprising that Sandeshkhali's main accused Shajahan Sheikh not arrested yet: Cal HC
Kolkata: The Calcutta High Court on Tuesday expressed surprise that Shajahan Sheikh, the main accused and «core» of the Sandeshkhali issue, has not been arrested by the state police so far, and said it does not know «whether he is being protected». The division bench, headed by Chief Justice T S Sivagnanam, also refused to interfere with a single bench order on Monday that allowed BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari and another party MLA Shankar Ghosh to visit the Sandeshkhali village. Adhikari was earlier in the day stopped by police, citing prohibitory orders in the area. «If one person can hold the entire population to ransom, then that person should not be encouraged by the ruling dispensation,» the court observed.

Chandigarh mayoral polls: Delhi CM Kejriwal lauds SC verdict, calls it a 'massive' victory for INDIA
Delhi chief minister and AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal lauded the Supreme Court's decision on Chandigarh mayoral polls at a press conference on Tuesday. He said, «I think this has happened for the first time in India's history. We thank the Supreme Court. The situation in the country is such that a dictatorship is going on. Democracy is being trampled. All institutions are being trampled. At such a time, this decision of the Supreme Court holds a lot of significance for democracy...This is the major victory of the INDIA Alliance — the first and massive.» Kejriwal further stated," We have snatched away victory from them (BJP). They had 'stolen' the election, the votes. But we fought till the end and ultimately won...Those who say that BJP can't be defeated — BJP can be defeated with unity, with good planning and strategy and hard work. These results prove the same."

Situation horrific in Sandeshkhali, there is complete lawlessness: Suvendu
Sandeshkhali (WB), Senior BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari, who arrived in Sandeshkhali in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district on Tuesday afternoon after getting permission from the Calcutta High Court, described the situation in the strife-torn area as «horrific» and a «clear example of anarchy». Adhikari, along with another BJP MLA Sankar Ghosh, spoke to the locals, including women, who narrated their «spine-chilling» experiences endured at the hands of local TMC leaders, including absconding Shahjahan Sheikh. The BJP leaders were welcomed by locals, including women, after they reached Sandeshkhali by crossing the Kalindi River on a boat from Dhamakhali. «The experiences narrated by the locals are spine-chilling. Their lands have been usurped, and women exploited… and everything happened with the help of the police and the administration. The situation is completely horrific and is a clear example of anarchy prevailing in the area,» he said.

Trinamool calls for resignation of women's commission chief Rekha Sharma, alleges bias
All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) on Tuesday accused Rekha Sharma, the Chairperson of the National Commission for Women (NCW), of prioritizing her political allegiance to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the safety of women and children and demanded her immediate resignation. In an official statement, the AITC claims that Sharma's favouritism towards the BJP, which comes from her past job as a BJP district secretary, harms the trustworthiness of her current role and makes her important position look foolish. «Rekha Sharma, transitioning from BJP district secretary to chairperson of NCW doesn't erase your political bias. How can we trust someone who puts party interests above the safety of women and children? Your allegiance to BJP renders your position utterly unfair and disgraceful. How dare you prioritise party loyalty over the safety of women? Your shameless partiality makes a mockery of the prestigious role. Resign now and spare us from your partisan incompetence!,» AITC said.
