Spot gold was down 1.1 per cent at $2,652.29 per ounce at 01:43 p.m.(ET), as the US dollar was steady at its highest in more than two weeks, Reuters reported. Bullion hit its highest since November 6 on Thursday, and has risen over 0.8 per cent so far for the week. The US gold futures settled 1.2 per cent lower at $2,675.80.

National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has introduced new Route Patrolling Vehicles (RPVs) named ‘Rajmarg Saathi’ as part of its incident management services. The move is aimed at enhancing road safety and strengthening highway patrolling, NHAI said on Friday. The RPVs conduct inspection of National Highway stretches to monitor and respond to emergency situations. The guidelines for ‘Rajmarg Saathi’ RPVs include detailed specifications related to the use of vehicle, equipment and manpower.

Department of Posts and the Ministry of External Affairs have signed an agreement to set up an additional 600 passport seva kendras at post offices, Union Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said on Friday. Speaking at the India Economic Enclave 2024, the minister said India Post has about 6,40,000 points of sales across the country and no one in the world can match its scale. «In the next 3-4 years, we will become a citizen-centric service. We have signed an agreement with the MEA today where we will set up 600 more networks for passport seva kendras, hopefully servicing one crore citizens per year through our network,» the minister said. Launched in 2017, the Post Office Passport Seva Kendras (POPSKs) service has been instrumental in facilitating passport-related services to over 1.52 crore citizens.

In 2001, during an inspection of Hindustan Coca-Cola’s product 'Canada Dry', the FDA discovered the contaminants in sealed bottles. A stock of 321 bottles, with an expiry date of December 12, 2001, was seized on July 27, 2001. Following tests, a complaint was filed against the company for allegedly violating the Prevention of Food Adulteration Act.
