Trump has put an end to an era. The future is up for grabs.
Kamala Harris lost the presidential election, but one of her campaign slogans was vindicated in defeat. «We're not going back!» the Democratic nominee insisted on the campaign trail, and she was unintentionally correct: Donald Trump's return to power is proof that we have lived through a real turning point in history, an irrevocable shift from one era to the next. In Trump's first term, he did not look like a historically transformative president. His victory was narrow. He lacked real majority support. He was swiftly unpopular and stymied and harassed. Even if his 2016 upset proved that discontent with the official consensus of the Western world ran unexpectedly deep, the way he governed made it easy to regard his presidency as accidental and aberrant — a break from a «normal» world of politics that some set of authority figures could successfully reimpose.

Kamala Harris pushes donors for more after raising US$1B+ in electoral defeat
Democratic Party’s prodigious fundraising operation raised more than $1 billion in her loss to Donald Trump, but the vice president is still pushing donors for more money after the election.Democrats are sending persistent appeals to Harris supporters without expressly asking them to cover any potential debts, enticing would-be donors instead with other matters: the Republican president-elect’s picks for his upcoming administration and a handful of pending congressional contests where ballots are still being tallied.“The Harris campaign certainly spent more than they raised and is now busy trying to fundraise,” said Adrian Hemond, a Democratic strategist from Michigan. He said he was been asked by the campaign after its loss to Trump to help with fundraising. The party is flooding Harris’ lucrative email donor list with near-daily appeals aimed at small-dollar donors — those whose contributions are measured in the hundreds of dollars or less.

What will Elon Musk do in the new department DOGE? Trump wants overhaul; here's what could be on the chopping block
US President- elect Donald Trump has recently announced about the creation of a new initiative known as the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) which will be led by Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy. According to CNN, the ultimate goal of DOGE is to streamline federal operations and cut significant government spending by at least $2 trillion which is a target that various budget experts have deemed unrealistic. At the same time Elon Musk has eventually acknowledged that achieving these savings might cause ‘temporary hardship’ but insisted that it will lead to a heavy long-term prosperity, reported CNN. On the other hand, while Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy will provide recommendations to the White House, they actually lack direct authority to make spending cuts or regulatory changes. Industries left Maharashtra as MVA govt did not support them: CM Shinde
Eknath Shinde on Saturday claimed that industries migrated out of the state as the previous Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government did not support them, but the situation has been reversed now. Speaking at a campaign rally in Guhagar assembly constituency in this coastal district ahead of the November 20 state elections, Shinde also said that Maharashtra has regained its top position in the country and accounts for 52 per cent of the total Foreign Direct Investment flow. «Industries left the state because of the Maha Vikas Aghadi as they did not get support (from the government) and we are being blamed for that. You (the MVA) show what you did in two-and-half years. I am ready to give an account of industries brought to the state and ones that are operational. Let people know the truth,» he said.

Maharashtra polls: Priyanka invokes Bal Thackeray, Shivaji Maharaj's 'insult' to target Modi
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Saturday invoked Bal Thackeray while campaigning for the Maharashtra assembly polls, stating the Shiv Sena founder wouldn't have tolerated Shivaji Maharaj's insult. Priyanka's rare reference to Thackeray, whose aggressive Hindutva was rejected by previous Congress generational leaders, comes at a time when PM Narendra Modi has dared the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT) to ensure Rahul Gandhi speaks a few words of praise for Bal Thackeray and V D Savarkar. Priyanka accused the BJP of back-stabbing Uddhav Thackeray, an obvious reference to the toppling of the MVA government in 2022. «Modi always takes the name of Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray. Yes, our ideologies (Congress's and Shiv Sena's) were different...Yes, our political thinking was different… But neither Balasaheb Thackeray nor any leader from the Congress and Rahul ji (Gandhi) would tolerate Shivaji Maharaj's insult,» Priyanka stated while addressing poll rallies in Shirdi and Kolhapur.
