West Bengal Assembly on Tuesday, even as BJP legislators staged a walkout opposing it. BJP members staged a walkout from the House during discussion on the resolution. Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari said the resolution was a waste of precious time of the House as a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) has been formed to examine the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, and that its term was recently extended till the last day of the budget session of Parliament in 2025.

Arguing his case, the lawyer for Shamsi Shahi Jama Masjid Intezamia Committee and Waqf Board Asrar Ahmed questioned the locus standi of the Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha to file the petition in the matter. Urging the court to dismiss the plea, the counsel submitted that the mosque is about 850 years old. He stated that there is «no existence of a temple» there and worship by Hindus had never been conducted in the mosque in the past. He argued that the Hindu outfit does not have the legal right to become a plaintiff in the matter. Ahmed also said that filing such a petition in the court violates the Places of Worship Act, 1991.

Dhankhar dismissed the notices and proceeded with the zero hour with the opposition conceding after a feeble protest. In a social media post, the CBIC said a Group of Ministers was constituted to look into the GST rate rationalisation apart from certain other issues referred by the GST Council. The GoM comprises of ministers from the States of Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Karnataka and Kerala with the Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar as the Convenor.

Manipur police in a statement stated, “On 01.12.2024, Manipur Police arrested three armed miscreants and apprehended one juvenile from Kshetrigao Sabal Leikai, Imphal East District who were found loitering in the area to commit prejudicial activities like extortion of money from general public and government officials of the said areas as well as threatening the general public. They were later found to be members of Arambai Tenggol. The three arrested persons have been identified as — Ningombam Lemba Singh, Mangshatabam Poireinganba Meitei, Laishram Bidyas Singh. Further the following items were recovered from their possession. One Ghatak rifle along with one magazine and 5 live rounds, One .32 Pistol country made with magazine, three number of mobile phones, One four wheeler vehicle and other incriminating items”. Arambai Tenggol is a radical Meitei group.

AC/DC has announced their highly anticipated ‘Power Up’ North American tour while marking the band's first tour in the region in nine years, reported Deadline.
