Glenmark Pharma fell over 6% to Rs 775 in Friday's intraday trade on BSE after the firm received board approval to sell a 75% stake in subsidiary Glenmark Life Sciences to Nirma Ltd. Glenmark Pharmaceuticals has entered into a definitive agreement with Nirma to divest a 75% stake in Glenmark Life Sciences for Rs 5,651.5 crore, at a price of Rs 615 per share, the company said in an exchange filing. Glenmark Life Sciences is the listed subsidiary of Glenmark Pharmaceuticals, and the latter owns more than 82% stake in the former. Post the sale, Glenmark Pharma will continue to own 7.84% in Glenmark Life Sciences, the former said in a release. Glenmark Life Sciences contributed close to 17% to the consolidated revenue of Glenmark Pharmaceuticals in 2023.

MUMBAI : Indian stocks extended their decline to a third straight day, dropping nearly 1% following the US Federal Reserve’s hawkish stance on interest rates. The expectation of prolonged elevated rates in the US has deepened concerns about a global slowdown, making equity markets jittery worldwide. The National Stock Exchange’s benchmark Nifty index, which has lost 1.45% in the past two sessions, ended 0.8% lower at 19,742.35 on Thursday.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) — U.S. existing home sales unexpectedly fell in August as persistently tight supply boosted prices, and a further decline is likely amid a resurgence in mortgage rates.

Cisco Systems (NASDAQ:CSCO) and Splunk (NASDAQ:SPLK) have entered into a definitive takeover agreement, with Cisco intending to acquire Splunk for $157 per share in cash, two companies said today.

rupee ended flat on Thursday as broad strength in the greenback was offset by exporter dollar sales and fears of potential central bank intervention to limit the downside, traders said. The rupee ended at 83.09 against the U.S. dollar, little changed from 83.0725 in the previous session. Asian currencies were mostly weaker, with the Korean won leading losses as dollar strength weighed on emerging market currencies. The dollar index rose to a six-month high in Asia and was last quoted at 105.54.

US Federal Reserve also weighed on crude prices. Around 3 pm the November contract of Brent on the Intercontinental Exchange was trading at $92.60 a barrel, down 0.99% from its previous close. The November contract of West Texas Intermediate (WTI) fell to $88.79 a barrel, down 0.97% from its previous close.

Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd, Zomato, Paytm and other companies with significant investments from Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB) declined as the fresh tensions between India-Canada relationship escalated. Canada Pension Plan Investment Board is the largest pension manager in Canada and has significant holdings in some of the Indian companies. CPPIB disclosed an investment of $21 billion ( ₹1.74 lakh crore) in India about a year ago.
