Fighting DAL country voice NOT Parties will not be comfortable in joining hands with BJP, no reason for me to change approach: RLD's Jayant Chaudhary
RLD chief Jayant Chaudhary on Monday said parties would not be comfortable joining hands with the BJP which, he alleged, is «very effective» at steam-rolling dissenting voices. Singh, who is part of the opposition group INDIA, said he does not see any reason to change his approach heading towards the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. In an interview with PTI ahead of the crucial meeting of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) in Mumbai, the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) leader also said the Congress has a «big role» going forward as it is a «well-understood brand» with many people across the country voting for the party for a long time. After the Mumbai meeting, there will be no more «conjecture» on Uttar Pradesh or the shape of the alliance and people will be more confident about INDIA, he said. Chaudhary hit back at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP for calling the 26-party opposition alliance 'Ghamandia', saying if any leader who has a majority and has had two terms attacks his opposition like this, «it betrays a lack of confidence, jittery nerves and also a basic undemocratic nature». «In a democracy, you will always have people who come and oppose you, ask questions, fight elections, they are not your sworn enemies that you give them names like that.

UPS Progressive Action Fighting Remark stage Congress' Milind Deora hails 'evolving chemistry' of INDIA partners, says 'best example' of it is in Maharashtra
INDIA bloc in Mumbai, Congress leader Milind Deora on Sunday said seat sharing for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls among alliance partners is more or less finalised in many states with only a few states requiring more time. Deora, who is closely involved in the organising of the meeting, hailed the «evolving chemistry» between Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) partners and said the best example of that was in Maharashtra. In an interview with PTI ahead of the INDIA bloc meeting on August 31-September 1, the Congress leader from Maharashtra also asserted that there are «no problems» within the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), comprising the Congress, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray faction). His remarks come close on the heels of a «split» in the NCP with Ajit Pawar and eight other NCP MLAs joining the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in the state on July 2. Subsequently, the meetings between NCP supremo Sharad Pawar and his nephew Ajit Pawar have been the subject of some consternation among INDIA bloc partners. Deora dismissed concerns over the developments in the NCP, saying seat sharing among MVA partners will be discussed and finalised at a later stage and what was happening within the NCP is their «internal issue». The Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance is an opposition bloc of 26 parties, which was formed recently to take on the ruling BJP-led National Democratic Alliance.

Citi Man Fighting shootings show country Prigozhin: Russia's mercenary supremo turned Kremlin enemy
Yevgeny Prigozhin, who was confirmed dead on Sunday by Russia's Investigatice Committee after a plane crash near Moscow, was a Kremlin confident catapulted to infamy by the offensive in Ukraine before he turned his troops on Russia's capital. Prigozhin's order in June that his private fighting group march on Moscow to unseat Russia's top brass presented the most serious challenge to President Vladimir Putin's hold on power over more than two-decades. His forces captured a key military headquarters in the city of Rostov-on-Don in southern Russian before setting their course for Moscow, where authorities beefed up security in anticipation of a showdown. «The evil that the military leadership of the country brings must be stopped,» Prigozhin announced after claiming the defence ministry had launched strikes on Wagner bases. But the failed bid ended with Putin ultimately offering exile in neighbouring Belarus to the mutineers and Prigozhin, who then appeared in footage vowing to make Africa «freer» and suggested he was on the continent. Before Putin, who accused Prigozhin of treason, ordered troops to Ukraine in February last year, the 62-year-old mercenary head dispatched fighters from his private force to conflicts in the Middle East and Africa but always denied involvement. That changed last year when he announced himself as the founder of the Wagner group and began a mass recruitment drive at Russia's prisons for foot soldiers to fight in exchange for an amnesty. — Bitter top brass rivalry — He gained public acclaim as Wagner spearheaded the capture of several key Ukrainian towns including Bakhmut.

Williams Gap Fighting COP awards show open Women’s tennis: A small step at the US Open 50 years ago was a giant leap
Women’s tennis was luckier. It had a King. It is 50 years since women’s tennis scored its first victory in pay equality. In 1973, the US Open became the first Grand Slam to announce equal prize money for men and women. In 1968, Billie Jean King had won the first Open era Wimbledon women’s title and received £750 for it while her ‘counterpart’ Rod Laver took home £2,000. In 1970, she and eight other US women players broke away from the US tennis tour over equal pay demand. They created Virginia Slims Invitational circuit. But things didn’t change. In 1972, the US Open men’s singles champion Ilie Nastase received $25,000. The women’s winner, King, got $10,000. The Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) was launched in 1973 and King threatened to boycott the US Open until the pay was equalised. And it was!
