Bollywood's Kapoor Khandan's only graduate is a teacher now. Who is Aditya Raj Kapoor?
Kapoor family has contributed more legends to Indian cinema than any other film dynasty. From acting and directing to writing, members of this illustrious clan have excelled in nearly every aspect of filmmaking—except academics. Over a century of cinematic history, the Kapoors have produced over a dozen superstars, but only one graduate. Aditya Raj Kapoor, the son of Shammi Kapoor, is the only member of the Kapoor family to complete higher education. Remarkably, he achieved this milestone at the age of 67. In 2023, Aditya became one of India’s oldest graduates by earning a Philosophy degree through correspondence from the Indira Gandhi National Open University. Taking his academic pursuits further, he began a teaching career in August 2024, delivering his first lecture on the synthesis of Eastern and Western virtue ethics, as reported by ETimes. Born in 1956 to Shammi Kapoor and Geeta Bali, Aditya is among the few Kapoor men who didn’t have a successful film career. Educated at Lawrence School, Sanawar, he started as an assistant to his uncle Raj Kapoor on Bobby and later worked on Dharam Karam and Satyam Shivam Sundaram. Moving away from films to focus on business, Aditya eventually returned to acting in 2010 with films like Chase and debuted on television in 2014 with Everest. However, just before the pandemic, he shifted his focus to academics, completing his graduation.

Allu Arjun arrest: Congress says no ill feeling towards any film hero, law takes its course
Congress president in Telangana B Mahesh Kumar Goud on Saturday said law was taking its course in the arrest of top Telugu actor Allu Arjun and that his party would not have issues with any film hero. The cases filed against Arjun are within the purview of law and the court granted him bail, he said. Congress would only have love for any cinema hero but not ill feeling, he said. Goud pointed out that it was Congress chief ministers in undivided Andhra Pradesh who were instrumental in the Telugu film industry shifting from Chennai to Hyderabad (in the 1980s). Goud took exception to BJP leaders finding fault with the Congress government over the arrest of Allu Arjun on Friday over the death of a woman when fans jostled during the premier show of the actor's film 'Pushpa 2' earlier this month.

This non-stereotypical portrayal of two flawed women is one of 2024's best films
Shuchi Talati's Girls Will Be Girls shook me up. When I got to an unnerving scene of extreme intimidation in Talati's debut feature, I was suddenly not a journalist watching an award-winning film, but a woman who had once been a teenaged girl, minding my own business, walking up a deserted flight of stairs in an unfamiliar school where I was attending an inter-school contest, when two older boys materialised from the opposite direction, crowded me towards the banister, casually groped me, and walked away with grins on their faces without pausing for a moment, as though it was all in a day's work for them. It was neither the first nor the last time I was molested. And I cannot quite tell why this particular scene in this particular film brought up that particular memory. I guess it was because here, too, there was a teenaged girl, there was a school, and there were boys who got away with it.

Pushpa 2: The Rule emerges as pan-India success as the Hindi dubbed version contributes 60.1% to its total collection
Pushpa 2: The Rule, has emerged as a pan-India success. The film, which is made within the budget of Rs400-500 crore, has garnered more than Rs750 crore in all languages in India alone in nine days of its release. Interestingly, the contribution of the dubbed Hindi version of the film to the total collection in all languages has been 60.1% at Rs453 crore. This shows that the film has emerged as a pan-India success. Ramesh Bala, entertainment sector analyst based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu said, “A southern film which crosses over its home state and makes Rs100 crore in dubbed Hindi version is a pan-India success.” He said that Pushpa 2: The Rule has fulfilled most expectations of an able sequel just like K.G.F: Chapter 2, the sequel of the original Kannada film K.G.F: Chapter 1.

'Pushpa 2' box-office rule continues: Allu Arjun's film crosses Rs 760 mark
Pushpa 2: The Rule, which premiered on Thursday, December 5, has astonished audiences by emerging as an unstoppable force at the box office. After just eight days in theaters, it has shattered numerous records by a substantial margin. Released in five languages, the movie’s Hindi version surprisingly outperformed its original Telugu release. In its first week, Pushpa 2 raked in an impressive Rs 725.8 crore. On its second Friday, the film collected Rs 36.25 crore across all languages, with the Hindi version contributing Rs 27 crore and the Telugu version adding Rs 7.5 crore, as per Sacnilk reports. Having already surpassed the Rs 1,000 crore mark in worldwide earnings, the next goal for the film is to achieve the same milestone within India. Remarkably, Pushpa 2 surpassed the lifetime collections of Kalki 2898 AD in just seven days and overtook Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan within a week of release. The film’s box office momentum remains strong despite external controversies. On December 4, a tragic stampede at a theater in Hyderabad during the premiere resulted in the death of a 39-year-old woman and injuries to her son. Following this incident, the woman’s husband filed an FIR, leading to the arrest of Allu Arjun on Friday by Hyderabad police. However, Pushpa 2 continues its successful run, unaffected by the incident or Arjun’s brief detention.
