Artificial intelligence is here, but is yet to make a big impact on marketing
artificial intelligence) may be the buzzword in marketing right now, but CXOs seem more concerned with rethinking their marketing strategy to be able to measure the direct impact of ad spends and finding the right talent, Stephan Zimmermann, senior partner at McKinsey & Company, said. Based in San Francisco, Zimmermann heads the consulting major's digital marketing and data analytics team of 1,400, half of whom are stationed in India. During his recent visit to India, Zimmermann had some 15-odd client meetings, but «nobody mentioned or discussed an AI tool saying they strongly believed in it or asked what I thought of it», he told ET in an exclusive chat. People are readily using generative AI to optimise marketing, automate repetitive tasks, and accelerate A/B testing. However, «none of the tools have yet transformed company performance», he said.

ISSL is a rare non-bank custodian that holds financial securities like stocks, bonds or gold for safekeeping. It also has a separate depository licence that allows it to offer brokerage services. «ISSL is neither a big depository nor a custodian; so there is not much business to be gained.

Actis is looking to monetise a portfolio of operating road assets that it owns in India through an infrastructure investment trust (InvIT), potentially raising as much as ₹1,500-₹2,000 crore, said two sources aware of the development. Last year, Actis acquired a portfolio of six roads — five hybrid annuity model (HAM) properties and one build operate and transfer (BOT) road — from Welspun Enterprises for an enterprise value of ₹6,000 crore ($775 million). This was the first set of roads that Actis bought in India after expanding into the roads sector, following its success in the renewable industry where it has sold two large platforms — Sprng Energy and Ostro Energy. The six roads were acquired by Actis' Long Life Infrastructure Fund, which seeks to invest in stabilised operating assets within multiple infrastructure sectors and deliver a strong cash yield for investors.

Rajasthan records highest inflation in August, 13 states higher than the national average
Rajasthan recording the highest inflation rate at 8.6%, easing from 9.7% in the previous month, whereas Delhi had the lowest rate at 3.1%. However, Rajasthan was not the only state to record high inflation, as three others, Haryana, Telangana and Odisha, also noted 8%+ numbers. Rajasthan and Telangana are among the five states headed for election later this year. An ET analysis shows that 13 of 22 states for which data was available recorded a higher number than the national average of 6.8%--a worse situation than last month when 12 states had recorded higher than national average inflation. Economists indicate that states taking measures to supply subsidized tomatoes had something to do with inflation variances across states. “Delhi has lowest at 3% with the state taking measures of supplying tomatoes at subsidized prices to the people contributing to this low number,” said Madan Sabnavis, chief economist, Bank of Baroda. Further analysis indicates that two of the 22 states recorded an increase in retail prices as inflation declined across the country.
