As of July end, the Mumbai-based developer has developed 1.80 million sq ft of residential properties including alliances where it holds majority stake. Arkade Developers' revenue in the financial year 2023, 2022 and 2021 stood at over Rs 224 crore, Rs 237 crore, and Rs 113 crore, respectively. Iranian journalists will spend around a month behind bars as part of a three-year partly suspended prison sentence for «conspiracy» and «collusion», local media reported on Sunday. Under the sentence, Negin Bagheri and Elnaz Mohammadi will serve one-fortieth of the term, or less than a month, in prison, their lawyer Amir Raisian told the reformist Ham Mihan daily newspaper, where Mohammadi works. «The remaining period is suspended over five years,» during which time they will be required to take «a professional ethics training» and «prohibited from leaving the country,» the lawyer added. Raisian did not elaborate on whether the verdict can be appealed, and the report did not detail the allegations against the reporters. Mohammadi's sister, Elahe, who also works for Ham Mihan, has since September 2022 been in prison after reporting on the funeral of Mahsa Amini, 22, who died in police custody. The death on September 16, 2022 of Amini, an Iranian Kurd, came after her arrest for an alleged breach of the Islamic republic's dress code, triggering months-long nationwide protests. Foreign-based rights groups have reported multiple arrests ahead of the anniversary of Amini's death. Bagheri works for the unaffiliated Haft-e Sobh newspaper. Elnaz Mohammadi was arrested and kept in Evin prison for a week in February.

Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, who declined to serve on the panel formed by the Centre to examine 'one nation, one election' had given his consent to be part of the committee before notification with names came out, a source in the government said on Sunday. Notably, Chowdhury, who was named a member of the High-Level Committee (HLC) constituted by the Centre on Saturday to examine 'one nation, one election' has declined to serve on the panel, saying its «terms of reference have been prepared in a manner to guarantee its conclusions». Chowdhary on Saturday wrote to Home Minister Amit Shah refusing to be a part of the committee. «The sudden attempt to thrust a constitutionally suspect, pragmatically non-feasible and logistically unimplementable idea on the nation, months before the general elections, raises serious concerns about the ulterior motives of the government», the letter read. The Union Law Ministry on Saturday named eight members to the committee, headed by former President Ram Nath Kovind, that will examine the issue of simultaneous elections to the Lok Sabha, Assemblies, municipalities and panchayats. Apart from the Chairperson, the committee will include Home Minister Amit Shah, Chowdhury, former Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad, former Finance Commission chairperson NK Singh, senior advocate Harish Salve, former Lok Sabha Secretary General Subhash C Kashyap, and former Chief Vigilance Commissioner Sanjay Kothari. The committee has been set up months before assembly polls in five states and ahead of Lok Sabha polls next year. Ontario, Canada, were faced with a frantic situation when approximately five million bees were accidentally released when a truck carrying crates of beehives fell on a Burlington roadway. The mishap occurred when the straps securing the beehive crates became loose, leading to a ‘bee spill’ on the morning of August 30. The incident occurred in Burlington during the shift of Halton Regional Police Constable Ryan Anderson, who reported receiving a distress call soon after 6 a.m. Local law enforcement responded by issuing a social media alert advising residents and drivers to avoid the area. Thankfully, the local community came to the rescue, with perhaps six or seven beekeepers offering to assist retrieve and protect the displaced bees. «Within a couple of hours,» Anderson said, «the majority of the bees had been safely returned to their hives within the crates and were loaded back onto the trailer.» Michael Barber, proprietor of Tri-City Bee Rescue in Guelph, was among the volunteers who responded to a call from the police at 7 a.m.
