cyber commandos will be trained at Gujarat based Rastriya Raksha University (RRU) for six months starting from October 1, 2024, as the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has identified 300 cops to be trained at ten different institutes. Union home minister Amit Shah had last month announced a core group of about 5,000 highly trained police officers or cyber commandos who instantly respond to and prevent cyberattacks across the country will be ready in the next five years. The batch of 30 policemen includes rank from additional SP to constable and these police officers have come from 20 States including Tamil Nadu, Jammu and Kashmir, West Bengal, Rajasthan Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh. “The six months training module will consist of lectures on Ethical hacking, incident response Strategy, digital forensic, cyber forensic, dark web, OSINT, thread hunting, cyber diplomacy among others,” Pro-Vice Chancellor of RRU, Prof Kalpesh H Wandra told ET. According to MHA officials, the batch of 300 police officers have been sub-divided into 10 groups of 30 officers and has been assigned to 10 different centers including RRU. “The trained officers will be posted back to their respective states and will be responsible for cyber investigation and prevention of large cyber-attacks. The plan is to train as many as cyber commandos in the next five years,” the official added.

Given this scenario, more poly parks are needed. One is planned for Uluberia on a 50-acre land parcel, while we are scouting for a suitable site along the Durgapur Highway for the other,» said IPF President Lalit Agarwal on the sidelines of the 65th AGM. UST said on Monday that it is expanding its presence in India by adding over 3,000 new jobs at its upcoming Kochi campus in the next five years. The IT firm has set its target to have 6,000 employees, up from the current level of 2,800 in the next five years at its Kochi centre. The firm will inaugurate its second own campus in Kochi by December 2027, the company said in a statement. The company laid the foundation stone for the new Kochi campus that is coming up in a 9-acre land at Infopark Kochi Phase 2 and the new UST campus will be completed in three years. “When the Kochi campus goes on stream, it will become the second owned campus in India for UST after Thiruvananthapuram”, added the firm. While UST’s Trivandrum centre has about 7500 employees and is the largest centre globally, UST Bengaluru has over 6,500 employees. Across India, the IT firm has more than 20,000 employees.

Indian Premier League Governing Council (IPL GC) has increased the total salary cap for the 2025 season by 33% year-on-year to ₹146 crore, up from ₹110 crore in the 2024 season. The salary cap will rise further to ₹151 crore and ₹157 crore for the 2026 and 2027 IPL seasons, respectively. The total salary cap now includes the auction purse, incremental performance pay, and match fees. For the 2024 season, the total salary cup did not include match fees, which has just been introduced. The auction purse for the franchises has been set at ₹120 crore for IPL 2025. These decisions were made at an IPL Governing Council meeting held in Bengaluru on Saturday, where the Player Regulations for 2025-2027 were finalised. The IPL GC's decision followed a constructive dialogue with the owners of the 10 franchises in July at the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) headquarters.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday reviewed the flood situation in the state’s 11 districts due to the water released from the mountains and bad weather conditions in the last three days. CM Yogi has directed all the officials concerned of the eleven districts- Kushinagar, Maharajganj, Lakhimpur Kheri, Ballia, Farrukhabad, Gonda, Kanpur Nagar, GB Nagar, Sitapur, Hardoi and Shahjahanpur, to ensure proper relief works. Senior officers have been asked to tour the flood-affected areas and keep a close eye on the ongoing relief works. Teams of NDRF and SDRF have been deployed in all the eleven districts. CM Yogi has directed officials to assess the damage done to the crops and subsequently, submit a report to the state government. According to a release, the government wants to provide compensation money to the farmers at the earliest possible. He has also directed the officials to give financial help to people whose houses have been damaged or who have lost their animals. Meanwhile, Relief Commissioner Bhanu Chandra Goswami said the relief operations are going on war footing in all the flood-affected 11 districts. According to him, five villages of Kushinagar districts are affected due to the flood in Gandak river. The government has set up 16-flood-shelters there. The total number of pre-positioned boats is 42 while one team of NDRF and one team of SDRF is deployed in the area. NDRF team rescued ten persons who were trapped in flood

CRPF personnel, including an officer, were injured in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast triggered by Naxals in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district on Sunday, officials said. The incident occurred in the Tarrem police station area around 7 am when a squad of the Central Reserve Police Force's (CRPF's) 153 battalion was out on a de-mining exercise, a police official said. The squad belonged to the Chinnagelur CRPF camp in the area.
