NHAI names 9 banks to facilitate payments at 247 toll stations amid Paytm Payments Bank regulatory clampdown
payments at the 247 toll stations where the 'acquirer' is Paytm Payments Bank, the entity that was barred from accepting deposits in a regulatory clampdown last month, people aware of the development said. Axis Bank, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, IDBI Bank, IDFC First Bank and Kotak Mahindra Bank are among the nine banks that have been authorised by Indian Highways Management Company Ltd-under National Highways Authority of India (NHAI)--and are being considered for rollover from Paytm Payments Bank, the people cited earlier told ET. The 247 toll plazas managed by Paytm Payments Bank account for about 14% of the country's daily national highway toll collection, which is ₹ 190 crore on average. Here an «acquirer» is a bank or financial institution that processes payments (FASTag) at the toll plazas on behalf of the issuing bank, and also routes them through the payment networks to the issuing bank. NHAI pays the acquirer bank at a toll station 0.13% of the daily collection as programme management fee.

80% in just 21 minutes: Hyundai expands ultra-fast EV charging network in India
Hyundai Motor India is taking a significant leap towards making electric vehicles more accessible across the country. The company has recently expanded its ultra-fast EV charging network by setting up 11 new charging stations in various cities and along major highways. These new charging stations are strategically placed to benefit cities like Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Gurugram, and Bangalore. They are also located along highways such as Delhi-Chandigarh, Delhi-Jaipur, Hyderabad-Vijayawada, Mumbai-Surat, and Mumbai-Nashik. The aim of these charging stations is to provide quick and convenient charging options for electric vehicle owners. Most of them operate 24/7, catering to both city dwellers and long-distance travelers. The charging stations utilize advanced technology that enables vehicles to be charged rapidly and efficiently. For example, the Hyundai IONIQ 5, one of Hyundai's electric vehicle models, can be charged from 10% to 80% in just 21 minutes using these chargers. To make the charging process even more convenient, customers can use the MyHyundai app. The app allows users to discover charging stations, navigate to them, pre-book charging slots, make digital payments, and monitor the charging status. Looking ahead, Hyundai plans to further expand its ultra-fast charging network to 10 or more new locations by 2024. Additionally, as part of an agreement with the Government of Tamil Nadu, Hyundai aims to install 100 charging stations by 2027.

Will Ottawa stop funding roads? Minister pressed after contentious comments
Steven Guilbeault insists the federal government is funding new road projects, despite comments earlier this week suggesting otherwise which have infuriated Conservative premiers. On Monday, the environment minister told a crowd in Montreal “our government has made the decision to stop investing in new road infrastructure,” according to quotes published in the Montreal Gazette.“There will be no more envelopes from the federal government to enlarge the road network. The analysis we have done is that the network is perfectly adequate to respond to the needs we have.”When pressed by reporters two days later, Guilbeault said he “should have been more specific.”“Of course we’re funding roads,” he said Wednesday.
