Dr Reddy's Laboratories on Wednesday announced the launch of toripalimab, an immune oncology drug to treat adults with a rare and aggressive form of head and neck cancer that originates in the nasopharynx, the upper part of the throat. Toripalimab, a new biological entity (NBE), is approved by various regulatory authorities around the world including the US Food and Drug Administration, European Medicines Agency and Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency for the treatment of adults with recurrent or metastatic nasopharyngeal carcinoma (RM-NPC). Last year, Dr Reddy's entered into a licence and commercialisation agreement with Shanghai Junshi Biosciences Co. for toripalimab. Under this agreement, it obtained exclusive rights to develop and commercialise the drug in 21 countries including India, South Africa, Brazil and various countries in South America. The agreement also allows Dr Reddy's to expand the scope of the licence to cover Australia, New Zealand and nine other countries.

National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) on Tuesday granted more time to Infrastructure Leasing and Financial Services (IL&FS) for completing the resolution process of 58 entities. «With regard to 58 entities, the resolution process is at an advanced stage and considerable progress has been made. Just for the time being, we are of the view that direction needs to be issued to IL&FS and its new board to complete the resolution process of 58 entities by 31 March 2025,» the tribunal said. Last month, the appellate tribunal sought IL&FS's response to the argument that immunity granted to IL&FS from legal proceedings can't continue interminably.

Donald Trump's resounding election victory, a Manhattan judge is poised to decide whether to uphold the hush money verdict or dismiss it because of a U.S. Supreme Court decision in July that gave presidents broad immunity from criminal prosecution, as per a report. Judge Juan M Merchan has said he will issue a written opinion Tuesday on Trump's request to toss his conviction and either order a new trial or dismiss the indictment entirely, AP reported. Merchan had been expected to rule in September, but put it off «to avoid any appearance» he was trying to sway the election. His decision could be on ice again if Trump takes other steps to delay or end the case.

Legal experts suggest various factors, including political repercussions and recent judicial precedents, could delay or even derail any formal sentence.

Justice Juan Merchan has said he will make his decision by Tuesday. It is the first of two pivotal choices that the judge must make after Trump's Nov. 5 election victory.
