NavIC (Navigation with Indian Constellation) will soon be a must in all smartphones, Union minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar has said. The minister said that by January 1, 2025, 5G phones will need to provide mandatory support for NavIC while all other phones that currently use the Global Positioning System (GPS) will need to provide NavIC support by December 2025.

Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi Inc's supplier Dixon Technologies India Ltd will reportedly open a massive new factory on the outskirts of New Delhi, Bloomberg News reported. Chinese-based company Xiaomi has been compelled to partner with Dixon for smartphone assembly because India is pressing Chinese companies to localize everything from manufacturing to distribution of devices. As per the Bloomberg report, Dixon will invest more than ₹4 billion ($48.2 million) over three years in the factory, which is spread over more than 300,000 square feet or the size of six football fields, and will largely produce Xiaomi smartphones.

Russia have agreed to train Indian seafarers in the polar and Arctic waters. The decision was arrived at during talks to widen maritime cooperation in the Russian Pacific port city of Vladivostok on Wednesday. Indian stock market is going to introduce Investor Risk Reduction Access (IRRA) platform for trading members. As per the SEBI circular, from 3rd October 2023, trading members will be given access to IRRA across exchanges. As per the circular available on NSE website, “It is hereby informed, that the Investor Risk Reduction Access (IRRA) will be accessible to Trading Members across Exchanges starting from October 3, 2023." IRRA platform will be available to the TMs supporting Internet Based Trading (IBT) and Security Trading through Wireless Technology (STWT) for their investors.

Established in 1955, headquartered in Paris, harmonises international regulations of measuring instruments like clinical thermometers, alcohol breath analysers, radar speed measuring instruments, ship tanks found at ports, and petrol dispensing units. «It is a single certificate accepted worldwide, » said Singh adding that this would help manufacturers of measuring devices in India help get the certificate faster and also earn foreign exchange for the country as international manufacturers are applying for the certificate in India. India is the 13th country to become an issuing authority.

Two Army officers, cop killed in gunfight with terrorists in J&K's Anantnag Anti-Pakistan protests were witnessed in various areas of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday as the encounter continued.
