Federal accident investigators are pushing for better cockpit voice recorders

ICICI Bank branch manager and his aides managed to meet their business performance targets for years by withdrawing money out of the bank accounts of unsuspecting account holders of the branch. They withdrew this money to create an illusion of opening new FD, current and savings accounts. However, someone got to know about it and started blackmailing the bank branch officials. To cover up their misdeeds, their act of misappropriation of money went to the next level and more money was taken out of the bank accounts of customers and was used to pay an Udaipur-based individual as hush money. Rajasthan Police officials have confirmed that till date about Rs 2.5 crore has been paid as hush money to that Udaipur-based individual who has been blackmailing the ICICI Bank branch manager.

An Alberta front-line RCMP officer has been arrested and charged in what the police force calls a national security investigation involving allegations of aiding a foreign actor.

India’s premier economic intelligence agency, the Directorate of Enforcement (ED), has been roped in to check for suspected breaches at Paytm Payments Bank on a reference from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), two officials aware of the development said. The ED, which investigates money laundering and foreign exchange-related breaches, has started a preliminary inquiry into the affairs of the company. It was yet to register an enforcement case information report as of Monday, one of the two officials cited above said.

National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) has dismissed a lawsuit demanding an investigation into the affairs of Indiabulls Housing Finance that was brought to court by Supertech Realtors. Supertech Realtors alleged that Indiabulls Housing Finance had illegally deducted excess sums of money from its loan account. In its lawsuit, the real estate firm alleged that the total sum accrued to it was ₹5,873 crore but Indiabulls Housing Finance deducted ₹6,150 crore from its loan account. It alleged that this was a fraudulent act which had public interest ramifications because it would impinge on its ability to deliver flats to customers.

The Income Tax department is learnt to have prepared an assessment report on how a string of intermediaries were used by insurers to pay off extra commission — over and above allowed under regulations — to their agents selling insurance policies. However, the insurance companies, who were pulled up last year by the I-T department, are not the actors under the benami investigation. The current probe, which is at an initial stage, focuses on the intermediary entities (acting as ‘benamidars’) and the official agents (which are the real beneficiaries).

Moody’s Investors Service on Tuesday upgraded the outlook on four Adani Group companies to stable from negative, while maintaining the stable outlook on four others. The Bill was passed by the two Houses of Parliament in the Budget session which concluded on February 10. A pulse profile of the Crab pulsar is generated from the observations carried out by POLIX during January 15-18, the ISRO said on Tuesday. The Crab pulsar, a pulsating star, resides near the centre of the Crab Nebula and spins about its axis approximately 30 times per second. The POLIX payload was activated in two stages by January 10, and initial scan observations were conducted around the Crab pulsar, the intended first target. The data plotted was collected during January 15-18, and thoroughly reviewed for confirmation. The data aligns with expectations, the space agency said. «This initial observation is a significant milestone for POLIX, showcasing its functionality and readiness for investigating pulsars, black holes, and other astronomical sources,» ISRO said.
