Pakistan police charge man with cyber terrorism over misinformation that led to riots in UK
cyber terrorism for his alleged role in spreading misinformation that led to widespread rioting in the U.K. earlier this month, a senior police investigator said Wednesday. The suspect was identified as Farhan Asif, 32, a freelance web developer, said Imran Kishwar, deputy inspector general of investigations in Lahore, the capital of eastern Punjab province. The man is accused of spreading misinformation from YouTube and Facebook about the British teenage suspect in a stabbing attack that killed three girls and injured 10 other people July 29 at a dance class in Northwest England.

The police further said that the accused had been identified as Zubair Shah. «A case of molestation of an 8-year-old girl was registered in the Nagpada area of Mumbai. Internet suspended, schools remain shut in Badlapur day after massive protest over sexual abuse case
Badlapur in Maharashtra's Thane district over the alleged sexual abuse of two kindergarten girls, internet services in the town were suspended while most schools remained shut on Wednesday, officials said. At least 17 city police personnel and around eight railway cops were injured in the incidents of stone-pelting at the railway station and other parts of Badlapur during the protest on Tuesday and the investigators have arrested 72 persons in connection with the violence, they said. According to officials, additional police force has been deployed in the town to maintain law and order, and the situation in the town is limping back to normalcy.

Bengal SIT to probe RG Kar Medical College 'Fraud' under former principal Sandip Ghosh's watch
special investigation team (SIT) to probe financial irregularities at RG Kar Medical College during the tenure of Sandip Ghosh. Kolkata Police have registered a case against Ghosh under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Prevention of Corruption Act. «I have raised the nexus in connection with bio-medical waste in RG Kar Medical. Used saline bottles, rubber gloves were procured by two Bangladeshi citizens and recycled in Bangladesh. Two inquiries were done by a committee in which I was also a part,» Akhtar Ali, former deputy superintendent of RG Kar said. He said he had informed anti-corruption bureau, state vigilance commission and even the CMO regarding it during his tenure in RG Kar. He raised these allegations first in July 2023 and spoken about the involvement of Ghosh in the alleged nexus. Former principal of the medical college, Ghosh, was interrogated by CBI for the fifth consecutive day on Tuesday.

SIT moves Raj Bhavan seeking permission to file charges against Union Minister Kumaraswamy
investigation team (SIT) of the Karnataka Lokayutka has renewed its request with Governor Thawarchand Gehlot for permission to file a charge-sheet against Union Heavy Industries and Steel Minister HD Kumaraswamy in a case of renewal of mining lease. The union minister was alleged to have illegally approved a mining lease to Sri Sai Venkateshwara Mineral in Sandur in Ballari district during his first stint as Chief Minister in 2007. The SIT, which completed investigations into the case, had in November last year, submitted a letter to the Governor seeking permission to file charges against the union minister. The second letter assumes significance as it comes within a week after the Governor granted permission to three activists to prosecute Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in a case of alleged illegal allotment of 14 pricey housing plots to his wife Parvathi in Mysuru. The Congress has been pushing for similar sanctions against the BJP and JDS leaders against whom prosecution has been sought by the Lokayukta SIT.
