Lexus from next year is looking to foray into the used car business in India, having now completed six years in the market, according to a top company official. The Japanese carmaker, which currently sells its product range through 23 touch points, aims to transition some of the sales outlets to also cater to the pre-owned car vertical. Known for its self-charging hybrid cars, Lexus is now gearing up to roll out its first electric model in the country by 2025. In an interaction with PTI, Lexus India President Naveen Soni said the automaker is now seriously considering the introduction of a structured pre-owned car programme. He noted that the company will initiate the programme in select outlets after taking into account the business viability of the dealer partner. «So I think very soon, by the third quarter or maybe next year beginning, I should say,» he stated when asked about the timeframe the company was looking to get into the used car segment.

Natco Pharma(up 3.19 per cent), Gland Pharma(up 2.33 per cent), Aurobindo Pharma(up 2.08 per cent), Glenmark Pharmaceuticals(up 1.84 per cent) and Biocon(up 1.07 per cent) were among the top gainers. Abbott India(down 0.7 per cent), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(down 0.49 per cent), Glaxosmithkline Pharmaceuticals(down 0.34 per cent), Dr Reddys Laboratories(down 0.29 per cent) and Alkem Laboratories(down 0.23 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

Shares of Samvardhana Motherson International(up 2.04 per cent), Bharat Forge(up 0.42 per cent) and Ashok Leyland(up 0.29 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack. On the other hand, Bosch(down 1.97 per cent), Maruti Suzuki(down 1.91 per cent), TIINDIA(down 1.63 per cent), Eicher Motors(down 1.05 per cent) and MRF(down 0.95 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

Toyota’s (NYSE:TM) North American branch reported their June and 2Q production and delivery results Wednesday with U.S. sales in June of 195,448 vehicles, up 14.% versus June of 2022. June 2023 sales of electrified vehicles totaled 51,535, representing 26.4 percent of total monthly sales.
