Sean Diddy Combs is currently held in the 4 North unit of Brooklyn's Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) which is a facility known for housing high-profile inmates like Sam Bankman-Fried and R. Kelly, reported The Mirror US. The dormitory-style environment accommodates around 20 inmates and features unique aspects which include holes that allow inmates to see and communicate with women on a lower floor, revealed the former inmates. According to The Mirror US life in this unit for the inmates is described as somewhat monotonous while it has severely limited privacy with small beds placed closely together and very basic amenities like access to tablets for movies and games. Sean Diddy Combs is lodged in MDC and is awaiting trial on serious charges which includes sex trafficking and racketeering eventually which he has denied. Mahindra Group CEO and Managing Director Anish Shah on Thursday pitched for a balance between tariff and non-tariff barriers for a stronger manufacturing sector in the country. «Indian industry needs no protection. We've had no protection for the last 20 years and if we had protection, we would not have the quality that we have today,» Shah said, while speaking at the CNBC TV18 Global leadership summit here. «With regard to duties, the questions are around non-tariff barriers along with tariff barriers… And frankly they should (be there) because that will put Indian manufacturing in a much stronger place,» he said. He was responding to a question on whether India needs to impose import tariffs on companies such as Tesla as they look at entering the Indian market.

GlobalBees, the house of brands subsidiary of baby and mother care products retailer FirstCry, has reported a 55% revenue growth of Rs 432.5 crore in the fiscal year ending March 2024, outperforming similar brands that have seen slower growth amid a consumption downturn. The adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (Ebitda) for GlobalBees also surged by 154% year-on-year (YoY). While this growth aligns with the overall business expansion of the Pune-based company, which operates in India and Saudi Arabia, the management noted that increased seasonal sales significantly boosted this subsidiary's growth.

Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted raids and search operations in and around Kolkata in connection to a multi-crore alleged financial fraud and money laundering through lottery tickets. Three teams of the central agency officials carried raids and search operations in at least three locations in Kolkata. The central agency officials carried out raids in at least three locations in Kolkata, Madhyamgram area in North 24 Parganas district and two other locations. In Madhyamgram's Michael Nagar, raids and searches were conducted in a lottery-ticket printing factory. The other two places where raid and search operations were conducted were at Lake Market and Lake Gardens in South Kolkata. The central agency also conducted raids at the offices-cum-residences of two lottery agents, people in the know said. Multiple charges against the lottery scam include evasion of taxes and diversion of the proceeds of the income illegally.

IRB Infrastructure Trust has made a non biding offer to IRB InvIT Fund to transfer five toll assets having an enterprise value of Rs 15,000 crore as of September 2024, according to an exchange filing on Thursday. In a statement, IRB said it plans to re-invest the proceeds raised from the deal in upcoming opportunities in the infrastructure sector. IRB Infrastructure Trust is IRB Infrastructure and Developers' private InvIT (infrastructure investment trust) with 51 per cent stakeholding, while IRB InvIT Fund is a publicly listed InvIT platform in which the infrastructure player has a 15 per cent share. «IRB Infrastructure Trust, an associate, has announced a non-binding offer to transfer five matured highway assets to the IRB InvIT Fund,» IRB Infrastructure Developers Ltd (IRB) said in a statement.

Honasa Consumer slips into Rs 19 crore loss on restructuring; operating revenue takes a hit too
Honasa Consumer, the parent company of beauty and personal care brand Mamaearth, reported a decline in its operating revenue for the September quarter while also slipping into losses, on account of a significant hit from its offline distribution restructuring exercise. For the July-September period, Honasa Consumer reported a 7% year-on-year (YoY) decline in operating revenue at Rs 462 crore. It posted a net loss of Rs 19 crore in the quarter, compared to Rs 30 crore net profit in the same period last year. “The impact (of the restructuring) was actually higher than what we had planned and expected…we initially had certain assumptions in place, which were based on a certain level of inventory but when we got into the actual execution, it turned out to be relatively higher,” the company’s founder and CEO Varun Alagh told ET.

Jharkhand Assembly elections, with Aquil Akhtar of Samajwadi Party emerging as the wealthiest, declaring assets exceeding Rs 400 crore, according to a report by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) released on Thursday. The Jharkhand Election Watch and ADR analysed the self-sworn affidavits of 522 out of 528 candidates in 38 constituencies for the second phase of the elections, scheduled for November 20. Of the 522 candidates, 127 (24 per cent) are crorepatis, while 148 (28 per cent) have declared criminal cases against themselves, the report said. «The role of money power in our elections is evident from the fact that all major political parties field wealthy candidates,» the report stated.
