Brazil's Supreme Court has ordered the suspension of X, formerly known as Twitter, after a protracted legal battle with the social media platform's owner, Elon Musk. The Court mandated this suspension due to the company's failure to appoint a new legal representative in Brazil within the deadline set by Supreme Court Judge Alexandre de Moraes. The decision affects approximately 40 million Brazilian users who will lose access to the platform within 24 hours, making it the latest addition to the list of countries that have banned or suspended the social media service. The legal confrontation between X and Brazilian authorities began in April when Judge de Moraes ordered the suspension of multiple X accounts accused of spreading disinformation, a directive with which the company did not comply. This defiance led to the current suspension order. The judge also imposed a fine of 50,000 reais (Rs. 7.47 lakh) for any attempts to circumvent the block, such as using a VPN. In response to the decision, Elon Musk stated, «Free speech is the bedrock of democracy, and an unelected pseudo-judge in Brazil is destroying it for political purposes.»

Mumbai local train commuters faced inconvenience in morning rush hours on Saturday as an overhead equipment snag on the Harbour line caused disruptions. The snag happened between Vashi and Mankhurd railway stations, said an official told PTI. Akal Takht has declared ShiromAkali Dal Chief, Sukbir Singh Badal 'tankhaiya'- guilty of religious misconduct, for «some decisions» during his tenure as deputy chief minister from 2007 to 2017. The move to declare Badal 'tankahiya' was made by five high priests of the Shri Akal Takht on Friday. Reading the order, Jathedar (chief Priest) of Shri Akal Takht, Giani Raghbir Singh said that Badal, along with his partner Sikh Cabinet Ministers need to submit their written explanations within 15 days. He said, «A meeting of the Panj Singh Sahibs (five high priests of the Shri Akal Takht) was held at the Shri Akal Takht Sahib Ji in which it was unanimously decided that Sukhbir Singh Badal, as the Deputy Chief Minister of the Punjab Government and President of the Shiromani Akali Dal, took some decisions which have harmed the image of 'Panthak Swaroop'. The situation of Shiromani Akali Dal has deteriorated and Sikh interests have suffered a lot. Therefore, his partner Sikh Cabinet Ministers, who were present in the government from 2007 to 2017, need to submit their written explanations in this regard within 15 days before the Shri Akal Takht.»

Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ) Friday said it has agreed to buy an 80% stake in Dubai-based Astro Shipping Company for $185 million (about ₹1,551 crore) as part of its strategy to expand fleet and boost earnings. «Astro's acquisition is part of our plan to become one of the world's largest marine operators,» said Ashwani Gupta, wholetime director and CEO of APSEZ. «Astro will add 26 ships to our current fleet of 142 tugs and dredgers, making a total of 168 ships. This will also give us access to many important customers and strengthen our presence in the Arabian Gulf, Indian subcontinent, and Far East Asia.» The deal valued Astro Shipping at $235 million. The company offers maritime services including ship management, shipping agency, freight forwarding, and chartering.
