Trinamool leader Kunal Ghosh, releasing an audio recording with BJP’s Maniktala nominee and All India Football Federation president Kalyan Chaubey, has accused Chaubey of offering a post in national football if Ghosh helped him to win the bypoll. Ghosh has been appointed as a convener of the Trinamool’s four-member committee to manage the Maniktala constituency, which was represented by the late state minister Sadhan Pande. Rijiju was referring to a notice submitted in Lok Sabha by BJP member Bansuri Swaraj urging the Speaker to take cognisance of her notice against certain inaccuracies in Gandhi's speech on the Motion of Thanks on the President's Address. «When the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha kept on lying on many things, including facts and figures, a notice was put to the Speaker and we have requested the Speaker to take appropriate action. We are waiting for the action,» Rijiju said in response to questions on the issue. The minister said rules apply equally to everyone as no member is above the Chair in the House.

In what was their first structured meeting since July 2023, Jaishankar and Wang, who is also a member of the political bureau of the Communist Party of China, decided that the Working Mechanism on Consultation and Coordination on India-China Border Affairs (WMCC) should hold an early meeting towards the process to achieve complete disengagement, officials said. Marine Le Pen and Jordan Bardella's RN led the first round of voting in the election on June 30 but fell back to third in Sunday's second round after the victorious left-wing New Popular Front (NPF) alliance and Macron's second-placed centrists joined forces to avoid splitting the anti-RN vote. The New Popular Front and its allies won 187 seats in the 577-seat National Assembly, Macron's centrist group won 159 seats and the National Rally and its allies won 142 seats, interior ministry figures show.

In a post in Hindi on X, Gandhi said, «The cowardly and violent attack on the Gujarat Congress office further strengthens my point about the BJP and the Sangh Parivar. The BJP people who spread violence and hatred do not understand the basic principles of Hinduism.» «The people of Gujarat can clearly see through their lies and will teach the BJP government a decisive lesson. I am saying it again — INDIA is going to win in Gujarat!» the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha said.

Congress on Saturday alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi broke all parliamentary norms by accusing the then Rajya Sabha chairman Hamid Ansari of having an «inclination» towards the opposition when the BJP came to power in 2014. Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) were detained by Chennai Police on Saturday for staging a protest on the main road outside the hospital where the body of slain BSP leader K Armstrong was brought for an autopsy. The protest which saw BSP supporters sitting on the road resulted in a huge traffic pileup. But the ruling still amounts to a major victory for the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, whose legal strategy has focused on delaying the proceedings until after the election. The timing of the trial matters because if Trump defeats Biden, he could appoint an attorney general who would seek the dismissal of this case and the other federal prosecutions he faces. Or Trump could potentially order a pardon for himself.

Indian Medical Association (IMA) president R V Asokan told the Supreme Court on Tuesday his unconditional apology to the apex court over his «damaging» statements in an interview to PTI, where he had answered queries about Patanjali Ayurved Ltd's misleading advertisements case, has been published in various publications. The IMA's counsel told a bench of Justices Hima Kohli and Sandeep Mehta that his unconditional apology has been published in the association's monthly publication, on the IMA's website, as also by PTI. «Last time, I (Asokan) had submitted an affidavit of apology. Your lordships were of the opinion that the apology should be given proper publicity like the interview...,» senior advocate P S Patwalia, appearing for the IMA, told the bench. He said the IMA has a monthly publication, and on its first page, a full page advertisement says that Asokan has apologised, expressed regret to the apex court and has submitted his affidavit tendering unconditional apology.
