Congress president Kharge's comments on PM Modi absolutely distasteful: Amit Shah
Amit Shah on Monday described Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge's remarks on Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a public meeting in Jammu and Kashmir as «absolutely distasteful and disgraceful». Shah said «in a bitter display of spite», Kharge unnecessarily dragged the prime minister into his personal health matters by saying that he would die only after removing Modi from power. At an election rally in Jasrota in Jammu on Sunday, Kharge felt dizzy and uneasy but resumed his speech after a brief pause, saying he won't die before PM Modi is removed from power. Shah hit out at Kharge over his remarks.

PM Modi urges people to buy 'Made in India' products during festive season
Made in India' products during the forthcoming festive season that will last nearly two months and includes Navratra, Dussehra, Diwali, Chhat and other occasions where cheap articles made in China have been flooding the market in the last few years. In his monthly 'Mann ki Baat' address, the PM said, «Friends, in this festive season you can once again reiterate your old resolves. Anything you buy, should necessarily be 'Made in India'… Anything you gift, that too should be 'Made In India'. Merely buying earthen lamps is not 'Vocal for Local'. You should promote local products made in your area more and more. Any such product, that has been made with the sweat of an Indian artisan, that is made on Indian soil, is our pride — we always have to lend glory to this pride.» His remarks come against the backdrop of China-made idols of gods, decorative lights and other products which come at a low cost but eat into the market of indigenous products. Modi also referred to the completion of a decade of the 'Make in India' initiative where all segments, from big industries to small shopkeepers have made a contribution to its success.

BJP using Jammu & Kashmir to stir emotions in rest of country, Congress will restore statehood: Priyanka Gandhi
Congress will restore Jammu and Kashmir's statehood, party leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said on Saturday while she slammed the BJP for using the Union territory as a pawn to «stir emotions» elsewhere in the country. Gandhi, the Congress's national general secretary, also criticised Lt Governor Manoj Sinha saying the current administration was a «puppet» government being run with a remote control. «The Congress party has a vision for you and for Jammu and Kashmir. We want to restore your state's status. If our government comes to power, we will immediately restore your statehood. We will also revive the tradition of the Darbar Move,» Vadra told a public rally here. Darbar Move refers to the bi-annual shift of government offices, including the secretariat, between Jammu and Srinagar in view of the harsh winter in J-K.

The tech bro style in American politics
Elon Musk its Person of the Year. True, that designation doesn't necessarily equate to a stamp of approval. But the magazine's coverage of Musk at the time was very favorable, almost fawning, highlighting his assertion that «my career is Mars and cars.» A lot of people would disagree with that declaration now. Of course, Tesla and SpaceX remain big businesses. But Musk himself is largely defined in many minds by the way he changed X, the site formerly known as Twitter — making more room for right-wing extremists, including a substantial number of pro-Nazi accounts, and his own embrace of antisemitic and racist conspiracy theories. Musk's right-wing turn isn't universal or even typical: Reporting suggests that even with the rightward turn of several boldface names, Silicon Valley remains heavily Democratic. Political contributions from the internet industry, in particular, remain strongly tilted toward Democrats. But right-wing tech bros are exerting a significant and, I'd argue, malign influence on the political landscape.

Donald Trump says Ukraine is 'demolished' and dismisses its defense against Russia's invasion
Trump argued Ukraine should have made concessions to Russian President Vladimir Putin in the months before Russia's February 2022 attack, declaring that even «the worst deal would've been better than what we have now.» Trump, who has long been critical of U.S. aid to Ukraine, frequently claims that Russia never would have invaded if he was president and that he would put an end to the war if he returned to the White House. But rarely has he discussed the conflict in such detail.

Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday slammed the BJP over its MP Kangana Ranaut's remarks calling for bringing back the three farm laws and demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi must clarify whether he was opposed to the comments or is «upto some mischief». Ranaut on Wednesday withdrew her remarks calling for bringing back the three farm laws and said those were her personal opinions and did not represent the party's stand. The actor-politician said she must remember that she is not only an artiste but also a BJP member now and her statements should be in line with her party's policies.
