US credit risk hits new high amid economic worries over tariffs and job cuts, here's what you should know
Investment Grade Index, a key measure of credit risk for top-rated borrowers, widened by 2.06 basis points to 53.54, marking the highest level of US credit risk in 2025, according to a Bloomberg report. When this index rises, it signals that investors see higher risks in lending to these companies. Meanwhile, the Markit CDX North American High Yield Index, which tracks riskier borrowers, dropped by 0.5 points to 106.4, its lowest point in six months. As per Bloomberg, unlike the investment-grade index, this one falls when credit risk increases, showing that investors are becoming more cautious about lending to lower-rated companies.

Is Elon Musk and Marco Rubio’s relationship beyond repair? Inside the bitter cabinet battle in front of Donald Trump that rocked Washington
federal agencies. The pair also joined forces on social media to push back against criticism of US support for Ukraine. Musk claimed his Starlink satellite internet system was critical to Ukraine’s military operations, suggesting the front lines would collapse without it. Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski criticized Musk’s remarks as a veiled threat, noting Poland pays millions annually for Starlink services in Ukraine and warned of seeking alternatives if SpaceX became unreliable. Rubio quickly defended Musk, denying any threats to cut Ukraine’s access and praising Starlink as vital to Ukraine’s survival in the war.

Moreover, Dr Garber’s statement did not mention President Trump directly but noted that universities nationwide are facing substantial financial uncertainties due to changes in federal policies.

Apple, Meta likely to face modest fines over DMA breaches, sources say
Apple and Meta Platforms are set to face modest fines for allegedly breaching landmark rules aimed at reining in their power, people with direct knowledge of the matter said on Monday. Both companies have been in the European Commission's crosshairs since last year for potential breaches of the Digital Markets Act which could cost companies as much as 10% of their global annual sales. The act, which became law in May 2023, seeks to make it easier for people to move between competing online services like social media platforms, internet browsers and app stores, allowing smaller companies to compete with Big Tech.

LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman fires back at Elon Musk over 'Tesla Protest' allegations. Is a tech billionaire feud brewing or is it just a tweet war?
Elon Musk’s latest claim—that billionaire Reid Hoffman secretly funded protests against Tesla—has ignited a high-stakes war of words in Silicon Valley. But in a swift rebuttal, the LinkedIn co-founder has dismissed Musk’s allegations as pure fiction, calling them yet another in a long list of «false claims.» The drama unfolded on X (formerly Twitter), where Musk accused Hoffman of financially backing groups organizing anti-Tesla demonstrations. Hoffman wasted no time in setting the record straight. «Just one more of Elon's false claims about me: I never funded anyone for Tesla protests. I don’t condone violence. But it's clear Americans are angry at him—it’s easier to explain away their anger than to accept that actions have consequences,» Hoffman wrote in response to Musk’s tweet.

Uproar in J&K assembly over Kathua deaths
The LG administration has ordered an inquiry into the incident, but locals have demanded action against the police officials and setting up of Village Defence Guards (VDG) in the area. The VDG, formerly known as Village Defence Committee, is a civilian militia first established in the mid-1990s in Chenab Valley of Jammu division to counter the militancy in remote hilly villages along the Line of Control. The districts of Kathua, Samba, Doda and Kishtwar in Jammu, which were peaceful for two decades, have reported several militant incidents over the past two years. During the ongoing budget session of J&K assembly, the legislators protested against the deaths and demanded swift action. Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather said an inquiry has been ordered into the incident and it cannot be debated further in the assembly. «I spoke with home minister sahib for the past three days and he is continuously monitoring the situation. He told me that Union home secretary and Director Intelligence Bureau was sent to assess the situation on ground,» leader of the BJP in J&K assembly Sunil Sharma informed the House. J&K chief minister Omar Abdullah informed the House that it was interesting to note that police allowed BJP leaders to visit the spot but did not allow the deputy CM from the ruling National Conference to visit Billawar citing the «sensitive situation» at the spot.
