David Rosenberg: These 14 stocks could benefit from Canada's immigration boom
Even with record low fertility and birth rates, Canada is undergoing a nearly unprecedented population boom — well in excess of three per cent annualized growth. The reason is clear: an unrivalled immigration surge that hit an inflow of almost 1.3 million people from other countries around the world in 2023. Without this, the civilian population would be in decline.

Not a market for bargain hunters; look beyond June 4 for investment opportunities in next five years: Abhay Agarwal
Abhay Agarwal, Founder & Fund Manager, Piper Serica, says this is a market where once the event is over, people will refocus on earnings, refocus on growth, refocus on India's long-term economic potential and the resultant expansion in market cap due to that and which companies will benefit the most. So, the whole conversation will change into that direction. Investors should look beyond just this June 4th date and look where the investment opportunities are for the next five years

Can do roadshow in 47 degrees: Anurag Thakur takes dig at Kejriwal citing ill health while seeking bail
Supreme Court's Registry refused to accept the request for an urgent hearing of Arvind Kejriwal's plea for an extension of his interim bail, BJP candidate and Union Minister Anurag Thakur said the Delhi Chief Minister can undertake a roadshow in the national capital's sweltering 47-degree temperature but is seeking bail on the pretext of ill health. «He is exposed once again. It is visible to everyone that he can do a roadshow in 47-degree temperatures but asks for bail on the pretext of ill health,» Thakur said. The Supreme Court's Registry on Wednesday said that the apex court's previous order gave Kejriwal the liberty to move the trial court for regular bail.

Old empires could be the key to a new car future
Hydrogen is the most abundant substance in the universe, and a crucial element in the creation of our most precious resource: water. Initiatives outlined by carmakers last week are breathing new life into plans to use the gas as fuel. They’re also a reminder that making the world run on hydrogen will need considerable support from diversified businesses such as North Asia’s storied conglomerates. The most promising path to exploiting hydrogen is to store the gas in a tank, as you would gasoline, then feed it into a fuel cell where it combines with oxygen to create an electric current, with water as a byproduct. Put this in a car and you have a fuel-cell electric vehicle. Recently, industry has turned to green hydrogen, created by running an electric current through water with an electrolyte. The machines that do this are called electrolyzers, and like battery EVs, they are only truly green if the original electricity source comes from renewables. Parking an electrolyzer near a wind farm, solar array or hydroelectric dam would be ideal because you can use renewable energy to deliver clean electricity directly to the hydrogen-production facility. But the gas would still need to be transported to refueling stations, possibly through natural gas pipelines.

Whether there is a 10% correction or a 30% crash, market to bounce back in 8-10 months: Rajat Sharma
Rajat Sharma, Founder & CEO, Sana Securities, says the the biggest thing for him is that the overall valuations of the market, which had remained on a trailing basis between 20 and 23 over the last three-four years are right now despite the run up at around 21.9 on the Nifty, a little expensive, but not overly so. Even if markets were to fall or correct or as some people are saying crash – here 10% is a correction and a 30% fall would be a crash, in either case, India is a bright spot and whether it is a correction or a crash, it would not last very long. So, if we fall that much, eight to ten months from that dip, we will bounce back. What do you think is the market mood ahead of the elections and what are you doing with your portfolio right now? Rajat Sharma: Markets have run up a lot, but the kind of earnings that we saw for the full financial year has justified the way markets have run up. Even if you look at the macros, everything looks very good. The government's fiscal deficit is likely to reduce given the kind of dividend RBI has paid the government, so expect big announcements from the budget.

NASA shares stunning image of cosmic object nicknamed Gomez's Hamburger. All you need to know
NASA's Hubble Space Telescope which launched in 1990 has changed the fundamental understanding of the universe right from determining the atmospheric composition of planets around other stars to discovering dark energy.Coming back to the Gomez's Hamburger, NASA further explains that, “view was created by a dying Sun-like star casting off its outer layers of material."While explaining the simmilarties between the hamburger and this celetial giant, NASA added, “the ingredients of this giant are dust and light; the hamburger "buns" are light reflecting off dust and the "patty" is the dark band of dust in the middle, which is hiding the dying star." This image was shared the US space agency on Hamburger day which was celebrated on May 28th.Internet users couldn't resist commenting on the captivating image of the cosmic object posted by NASA.One user said, “Mother Nature does have a sense of humour"“Awsome tremendeous," another user commentedSome another wrote, “Stellar burger you got there."“Space burgers and stargazing - proof that you can have it all." A user also argued against the notion that Gomez's Hamburger is created by a dying star, suggesting instead that it is more likely formed by the protoplanetary disk surrounding a new star.Meanwhile, NASA announced in a May 26 press release that the first of two climate satellites, designed to study heat emissions at Earth's poles was launched. The agency's PREFIRE (Polar Radiant Energy in the Far-InfraRed Experiment) mission consists of two shoebox-size cube satellites, or CubeSats, that will measure the amount of heat Earth radiates into space from two of the coldest, most remote regions on the planet.

Melinda French Gates to give $1 billion for women's rights
Melinda French Gates says she will be donating $1 billion over the next two years to individuals and organisations working on behalf of women and families globally, including on reproductive rights in the US. French Gates earlier this month announced she would step down from the women and families. French Gates, one of the biggest philanthropic supporters of gender equity in the US, said Tuesday in a guest essay for The New York Times that she's been frustrated over the years by people who say it's not the right time to talk about gender equality. «Decades of research on economics, well-being and governance make it clear that investing in women and girls benefits everyone,» she wrote.

Asus Vivobook S16 OLED review: Lightweight and powerful laptop for professionals
Infinix GT 20 Pro review: A gaming phone that doesn't break the bankThe Vivobook S16 OLED that I received comes in this metallic blue finish that Asus calls 'Misty Blue' (for those who prefer darker shades, there is also another colour option called Neutral Black). As soon as you remove the packaging, you'll notice that this is a very thin and light laptop, measuring just 13.9 mm in thickness and around 1.5 kg in weight. The large 16-inch form factor does mean that it might be a little difficult to fit into most commercial backpacks, but it will also come in handy for professionals who are constantly on the move and prefer a larger display. The new Vivobook also has plenty of connectivity options including 2 Thunderbolt 4 ports, 2 USB 3.2 ports, an HDMI port, a microSD card reader and a headphone jack. The S16 OLED comes with a full-size keyboard with single-zone RGB backlighting and a number pad.

Grief and beyond
life is and how important it is to savour it daily. One way to enjoy life is to spend time with our loved ones and with people who matter to us and to whom we matter. Often, in our busy lives, we tend to put personal things like spending time with our parents and children for a later date. Until the inevitability of time shakes us out of our reverie. Grief helps find a solution and figure out a way to deal with the loss. It enables us to handle sorrow and go through the routine and the days that follow until the angst and melancholy become memories. We tend to procrastinate, and when it comes to making time for our family, most of us keep it for another day, much like going to the gym. The busy schedules, incessant meetings and travel create a whirlpool of work pressure that sucks us in.

China's 'One Person, One File': Road to digital totalitarianism
One Person, One File" (OPOF) mass surveillance program represents an escalation of China's efforts to create a ruthless digital censorship. Under this prospective system, Shanghai aims to triple its deployment of facial recognition cameras, compiling exhaustive personal data files on every single resident, China experts told ET. It encapsulates the Chinese Communist Party's remorseless efforts to strangle human freedom through Orwellian levels of technology-enabled social control. OPOF is more than just another Benthamite panopticon surveilling the watch. It is an attempt to construct an omniscient digital surrogate for every Chinese citizen — an individualized file encoding each person's relationships, activities, behaviors and very existence into ones and zeroes for the Party's domineering oversight, according to China experts
