It’s three steps forward and two steps back for FII flows in Indian, Asian markets, says Manishi Raychaudhuri
Manishi Raychaudhuri, Veteran Investor In Asian Equities, says for global investors’ focus to come back sustainably in emerging markets, the rate narrative and the US dollar narrative has to change. Till then, we would possibly see this three steps forward and two steps back as far as the FII flows into India and other Asian markets are concerned. There are enough opportunities in India in sectors like capital goods, industrials and power which hitherto had not performed and some FIIsfund managers have moved into midcaps and even smallcap spaces. There was a weakish patch barely a week or 10 days ago when the market corrected from 23,000 to 21,800 odd. At that time, a narrative got built that China and Hong Kong markets have started to look very attractive versus India, so some money went there. But right now, we are back at life highs. Can India afford to do well despite some flows going to China? Manishi Raychaudhuri: I would think so.

Utpal Sheth on how buy, hold and sell work for a terminal value investor
Utpal Sheth, Senior Partner & CEO, Rare Enterprises, and Co-Founder & Mentor, Trust Group, says one needs both conviction and courage to be able to buy. After having bought, given that you have a 10-year plus time horizon, you have this long journey of hold. What is it that you need to hold? You need not just patience, but also equanimity to hold. The sell decision is very rare for a terminal value investor but it has to be taken at the right time. On Terminal Value Investing Utpal Sheth: Terminal value investing is a very powerful concept in my mind. And let me start with a very elementary process. The investment process has three distinct components — buy, hold and sell. This is known to everybody. However, bear in mind that when you buy, you are buying at time T0 at the price prevailing at time T0.

Kolkata and Hyderabad, both famous for biryani, vie for IPL bragging rights
IPL, it has come down to this. The Sunrisers Hyderabad will take on Kolkata Knight Riders for this year’s bragging rights. It was probably not the first pick of experts, pre-tournament, to make it to the final, but it was not the last. The primary reason for this is SRH’s acquisition of Pat Cummins. As a bowler, Cummins is world-class, but his efficacy is highest in Test cricket. Cummins can hit a long ball but you would not go as far as putting him in the bowling allrounder category.
