Donald Trump accused Democratic rival President Joe Biden of running a "Gestapo administration" in a private address to donors in which he also attacked prosecutors involved in his criminal indictments, according to a recording heard by U.S. media outlets. Trump, whose own rhetoric has drawn accusations of fascist tendencies from civil rights groups and other critics, made the comparison with the Nazi police in Germany's World War Two regime at a donor retreat Saturday night at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida.

Lok Sabha Polls: Locals point to lack of jobs in Bengal's Murshidabad
Murshidabad constituency. They are ghost villages, with hardly any youth left to even bury the dead. 80-90% of the men from Raninagar, Jalangi and Domkal assembly segments under Murshidabad constituency are in Kerala, Karnataka, Hyderabad and Maharashtra where they work as migrant workers. Lack of employment opportunities have forced most of the young to middle-aged men to head South for better wages. Hasibul Rehman from Murshidabad's Jalangi has visited Kerala twice for work and worked as a labourer in a factory. He has not gone to school but is the sole earner in his family in Sahebrampur village of Murshidabad constituency which goes to polls on May 7 in the third phase. Abdus Sabur, a middle-aged man, who frequented Kerala from mid 1990s to 2005, now runs a truck business in Jalangi's Naccherpara. «You will not find a single household from where the men have not visited Kerala. They do all sorts of jobs as daily labourers — lifting soil, cutting ponds, construction work, plumbing, coconut picking and even cleaning drains. Most of the men from Jalangi are in Kerala,» Saber told ET.

Lok Sabha polls: Bhabhi and didi battle it out in Chhattisgarh's 'parched' Korba
Korba (Chhattisgarh): «Water is our biggest problem,» says Shivratan Singh, a resident of Lad village, about 65 km from Korba, which is India's biggest coal and power producing town in mineral-rich Chhattisgarh. Singh points to the water tank on the side of the road and says it had been constructed under Jal Jeevan Mission about a year back and taps also installed. «But they forgot to give us connections.» Just about a kilometre away is a dry pond. Villagers laugh when they point towards it. «We have never had water in this,» they say speaking about this pond which was dug under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS). They complain about hefty electricity bills, unpaid MGNREGA wages and of remaining uncovered under the PM Awas Yojana. Brij Lal, a resident of Chhindwarpara village in the same block, says development schemes have never reached them. But what has excited them the most in this election is Congress' Mahalakshmi scheme which promises ₹1 lakh per year to women of every poor family. Listed as one of the aspirational districts by NITI Aayog, Korba is a study of contrasts.

Lok Sabha Polls: It's BJP Vs Congress rebel in Maharashtra's Sangli constituency
Sangli Lok Sabha constituency, a Congress bastion until BJP wrested it 10 years ago, has gathered more attention due to a friction between alliance partners Shiv Sena (UBT) and Congress than the electoral battle. UBT unilaterally decided to field Chandrahar Patil for the seat without even discussing it with Congress, and an upset Vishal Patil, grandson of former Maharashtra chief minister Vasant Dada Patil, is contesting the poll as an independent. BJP leaders hope that this infighting in the Opposition camp, along with the Modi factor, will help its sitting MP Sanjay Kaka Patil eke out a win in spite of a strong anti-incumbency sentiment over lack of development and infrastructure in the region. Congress held its sway in Sangli for more than five decades, winning the seat from 1962 to 2009, until BJP's Sanjay Patil won it in 2014.
