Coldplay fans have a point: There must be a better way to sell gig tickets
Subscribe to enjoy similar stories. It’s a conundrum of basic economics: Can prices be kept affordable when demand heavily outweighs supply? It is usually onions, fuels or rare earth metals like dysprosium that trouble us with the question, but this week, it was concert tickets that sparked outrage and stirred musings. Last Sunday, about 13 million Coldplay fans of all ages went online and joined a long queue to snag a grand total of 150,000 tickets.

Five Asteroids to Fear: NASA warns of space rocks with one packing firepower of nearly 5 mn Hiroshima bombs!
Asteroids frequently pass near Earth, and while most are too small to pose any threat, some can make direct hits. Fortunately, such events often result in these asteroids burning up in the atmosphere. The last significant asteroid impact occurred 66 million years ago, leading to the extinction of most dinosaurs. Though the chances of another similar event are low, NASA and other space agencies are actively monitoring potential threats. They are also developing strategies for deflection in case a dangerous asteroid is on a collision course.

Scientists discover 120-million-year-old Earth section: Here's how it could change what we know about our planet
tectonic plate that was thought to be lost for millions of years has been discovered in Borneo by geologists, bringing new insights into Earth’s ancient history. The plate, named Pontus, dates back 120 million years, according to a study led by Suzanna van de Lagemaat, a graduate geologist at Utrecht University, and her supervisor, Douwe van Hinsbergen. The discovery, based on geological data collected from the mountainous regions of Borneo, sheds light on the movements of tectonic plates that once formed part of the Earth’s crust. Van de Lagemaat said, «We thought we were dealing with relics of a lost plate that we already knew about. But our magnetic lab research on those rocks indicated that our finds were originally from much farther north, and had to be remnants of a different, previously unknown plate.»

Coldplay Mumbai ticket resale price will surprise you. 30X jump in a few hours
Coldplay returning to India after a gap of nine years has taken the fandom by storm. While diehard fans of the rock icons are scrambling to lay their hands on the exorbitantly priced tickets, the Coldplay fandom was left devastated when several tickets resurfaced on reselling websites. Earlier, millions of fans had visited the BookMyShow website and app for three shows at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai for a chance at one of the 1.5 lakh seats. However, reseller websites prospered as tickets became scarce and grievances flooded social media. Since then, ticket prices have increased by 10 to 20 times on platforms like Viagogo, and many others have taken to social media to sell «extra» tickets they had already bought. This happened when millions of people were presumably waiting in line for Coldplay's announcement of a third gig in response to the ‘phenomenal’ demand.
