The Fountain, produced by Darren Aronofsky and Ari Handel, about a man searching for everlasting youth, had this chilling dialogue: “Death is a disease, it’s like any other. And there’s a cure. A cure—and I will find it." No other words are more apt than this film dialogue to describe this moment in human endeavour when Death is the unparalleled villain.

Congress asks why no front row for Rahul Gandhi at Independence Day event
Congress on Thursday questioned the government, particularly the Ministry of Defence, for not providing a seat to Rahul Gandhi in the first row at the Red Fort Independence Day event despite him being the leader of opposition in the Lok Sabha. While Congress MP Vivek Tankha said Gandhi was seated in the «fourth row», Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate later alleged that the Modi government showed «its pettiness and lack of respect for democratic conventions» by seating LoP Gandhi in the «fifth row». A couple years ago, when the party had questioned the government after LoP, Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge was similarly seated during the Independence Day event, the ruling side responded by citing the order of precedence in protocol and the precedents from the past regimes.

Rahul Gandhi’s second last row seating at Independence day event sparks debate
Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's address from the Red Fort was accompanied by an unusual focus on Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi. Seated in the second last row, Gandhi was positioned next to Olympic hockey forward Gurjant Singh. This seating arrangement, which deviated from traditional protocol, has generated considerable social media discussion. Seating Protocol and Changes Typically, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, whose rank is equivalent to that of a Cabinet Minister, is given a seat in the front row during Independence Day celebrations. However, this year’s front rows were allocated to Olympic medallists. Olympic gold medalists Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh, as well as members of the bronze-winning hockey team, including captain Harmanpreet Singh and PR Sreejesh, occupied these prime seats. According to sources from the Ministry of Defence, which organizes the Independence Day event, Rahul Gandhi was placed in the fifth row as the front rows were reserved for the athletes. The Ministry stated that Gandhi did not request any special arrangements.

78th Independence Day: PM Modi set to break a record of Manmohan Singh today with his 11th I-Day address in row
Narendra Modi will unfurl the national flag for the 11th consecutive time on Thursday, marking this year's Independence Day. He is expected to outline his government's agenda, present a progress report, make key policy announcements, and addresses pressing issues during his address from the Red Fort. Notably this will be Modi's first Independence Day address of his third term. He will surpass Manmohan Singh who unfurled the tricolour 10 times between 2004 and 2014, and behind Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi, who did so 17 and 16 times respectively. The theme of 'Viksit Bharat' is expected to be a core focus of his address. There is also anticipation that the ongoing crisis in Bangladesh, particularly the targeting of minority Hindus, may be mentioned, given the strong stance taken by Hindutva groups who have rallied around the issue.
