Israel has conducted extensive airstrikes against Hezbollah positions in eastern and southern Lebanon, claiming to have struck over 140 sites associated with the militant group. The strikes have reportedly resulted in the destruction of residential buildings, sending large plumes of smoke into the sky. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) asserted that their offensive led to the deaths of several Hezbollah commanders, including the group's leader, Hassan Nasrallah. Hezbollah later confirmed Nasrallah's death, marking a significant blow to the organisation. Additionally, Iran reported the death of Abbas Nilforushan, a deputy commander in the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, who was also killed in the strikes.

UK government announced on Friday that it had acquired a key semiconductor factory after fears its imminent closure would hamper a crucial supply chain to Britain's armed forces. The facility at Newton Aycliffe in northeast England is the only secure site in Britain with the capability to produce gallium arsenide chips, used in electronic devices. The semiconductors are used in a number of military platforms, including to boost fighter jet capabilities.

EWS flats were sold out in DDA's Sasta Ghar and Madhyam Vargiya Housing schemes, an official statement said on Saturday. In Ramgarh, out of 183 LIG flats in the scheme, 153 flats were sold, it said. While 708 LIG flats were sold in Rohini and around 250 flats were booked in Narela. Among the EWS segment, around 300 flats were sold out in Narela and all 139 flats offered in Loknayakpuram were also booked, it said. Since the first day of the booking on September 10, the scheme has received an impressive response with all HIG flats offered at Jasola being sold out on Day 1, the statement said.

Congress will restore Jammu and Kashmir's statehood, party leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said on Saturday while she slammed the BJP for using the Union territory as a pawn to «stir emotions» elsewhere in the country. Gandhi, the Congress's national general secretary, also criticised Lt Governor Manoj Sinha saying the current administration was a «puppet» government being run with a remote control. «The Congress party has a vision for you and for Jammu and Kashmir. We want to restore your state's status. If our government comes to power, we will immediately restore your statehood. We will also revive the tradition of the Darbar Move,» Vadra told a public rally here. Darbar Move refers to the bi-annual shift of government offices, including the secretariat, between Jammu and Srinagar in view of the harsh winter in J-K.

Hezbollah confirmed on Saturday Nasrallah had been killed, issuing a statement hours after the Israeli military said it had eliminated him in an airstrike on the group's headquarters in Beirut's southern suburbs on Friday. Nasrallah's death marked a devastating blow to Hezbollah as it reels from an intense campaign of Israeli attacks, and even as the news emerged some of the group's supporters were desperately hoping that somehow he was still alive.

REC Ltd on Saturday said it has raised USD 500 million through green dollar bonds to support various renewable energy projects. The 5-year note has a coupon rate of 4.75 per cent per annum to be paid semi-annually and the maturity date of September 27, 2029. This is the first US dollar bond issuance from an Indian public sector enterprise in 2024, REC said in a statement. The latest fund raise was part of USD 10 billion global medium-term programme of the company. The proceeds will be used to finance eligible green projects, in accordance with REC's Green Finance Framework as per green bond principles of Climate Bond Initiative, London and RBI's ECB guidelines, with a second-party opinion from Sustainable Fitch, it said.

While launching the website, CM Dhami said everyone has his or her own connection with the motherland. He further added his government’s effort is to seek cooperation from migrant Uttarakhandis and extend all help to them to get connected with their native place.

Nandivardhan Group has raised debt worth over Rs 100 crore from the country's largest lender the State Bank of India to finance one of its residential projects in central Mumbai’s Dadar locality, said persons with direct knowledge of the development. This funding will primarily be utilized for the construction of a sale tower, which forms part of the group’s redevelopment project. The developer is looking to provide possession of apartments to nearly 100 residents in the redevelopment project over the next 2 to 3 years. The repayment of the loan is planned through the revenue generated from the sale tower of the project, which is scheduled to be launched next month. The redevelopment project has a total saleable area of 1.65 lakh sq ft and is estimated to have a revenue potential of Rs 650 crore.

Abbas Nilforushan marks the latest casualty suffered by Iran as the nearly yearlong Israel-Hamas war in the Gaza Strip teeters on the edge of becoming a regional conflict. His death further ratchets up pressure on Iran to respond, even as Tehran has signalled in recent months that it wants to negotiate with the West over sanctions crushing its economy.

Nirmala Sitharaman and several others following a court order related to the now-scrapped electoral bonds scheme. According to PTI, police confirmed on Saturday that an FIR was filed under relevant sections of the law. The complaint was lodged by Adarsh R. Iyer, Co-President of 'Janaadhikaara Sangharsha Parishath' (JSP), who alleged that the accused engaged in extortion disguised as the electoral bonds scheme, allegedly benefiting by over Rs 8,000 crore. The complaint further claimed that Sitharaman, with the covert assistance of Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials, facilitated the extortion of thousands of crores for the benefit of various individuals at both state and national levels. According to the complainant, cited by PTI, «the entire extortion racket under the garb of electoral bonds has been orchestrated hand in glove with officials of BJP at various levels.»

Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei called on Muslims on Saturday «to stand by the people of Lebanon and the proud Hezbollah with whatever means they have and assist them in confronting the… wicked regime (of Israel)». Khamenei, in a statement after the Israeli army said it had killed Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, said: «The fate of this region will be determined by the forces of resistance, with Hezbollah at the forefront», state media reported. After Hezbollah confirmed Nasrallah's death, Iranian media reported that General Abbas Nilforoushan, a deputy commander of Iran's Revolutionary Guards, had died «next to Nasrallah» in the Israeli strikes on south Beirut on Friday.

Donald Trump's campaign has been forced to change the venue of an upcoming rally in Wisconsin due to a shortage of Secret Service personnel, as per a report by CBS which quoted its sources. Meta 91 million euros ($102 million) for password-security breaches. The Data Protection Commission criticised Meta for failing to put in place appropriate security measures to protect users' password data and for taking too long to alert the regulator over the issue. An inquiry was launched in April 2019 after Meta Ireland informed the regulator that it had «inadvertently stored certain passwords of social media users» in a readable format on its internal system, the DPC said in a statement.
