Chart Check: Breach of falling trendline resistance and breakout from Cup & Handle pattern make PNB Housing an attractive buy
PNB Housing Finance, part of the housing finance segment, have rallied more than 30% in the last three months which has helped the stock to close above the descending trendline resistance on monthly charts and stage a breakout from Cup and Handle pattern on the weekly charts. The breakout on both monthly and weekly charts has opened room for the stock to head towards 800-900 levels in the next 3-6 months, which would take the stock to a fresh 52-week high, suggest experts. The housing finance stock rose from Rs 458 hit on 6 April 2023, to Rs 620 recorded on 7 August 2023, which translates into an upside of 37% in the last 3 months.

N. Korea's Kim dismisses military chief, calls for war preparations
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has dismissed his top general and called for stepping up war preparations «in an offensive way», including boosting weapons production and conducting more drills, state media reported Thursday. With a cigarette in hand, Kim was shown talking to a room full of uniformed top generals, and pointing at maps, images in state media showed, while he discussed «major military actions» against South Korea at a meeting of the Central Military Commission. The Korean Central News Agency said the agenda of the meeting, which comes just days after Kim inspected key arms factories, was «the issue of making full war preparations» and ensuring «perfect military readiness for a war». The meeting comes as Seoul and Washington prepare for major joint drills later this month, which the North views as rehearsals for invasion and has repeatedly warned could trigger «overwhelming» action in response. At the meeting, Kim dismissed chief of the general staff Pak Su Il, replacing him with Vice Marshal Ri Yong Gil, KCNA said without giving further details.

The initiative was launched to boost flood resilience in major cities and make better use of rainwater through architectural, engineering and infrastructural tweaks. But cities remain vulnerable to heavy rain. A yearlong slowdown in US inflation may have stalled in July
United States likely rose in July for the first time in 12 months, driven higher by more expensive gasoline and suggesting that the fight against rising prices may prove bumpier in the months ahead. The inflation report the government will issue Thursday is expected to show that consumer prices increased 3.3% from 12 months earlier. That would mark an uptick from a 3% year-over-year increase in June — the lowest such figure in more than two years.

China mandates all apps to share business details in new oversight push
The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) said late on Tuesday that apps without proper filings will be punished after the grace period that will end in March next year, a move that experts say would potentially restrict the number of apps and hit small developers hard. You Yunting, a lawyer with Shanghai-based DeBund Law Offices, said the order is effectively requiring approvals from the ministry.
