Nitin Gadkari on Wednesday said the logistics cost in India will come down to 9 per cent within two years. Speaking during bauma Conexpo India, the Road Transport and Highways Minister said that «presently our logistics cost is 14-16 per cent… I assure you that within two years… our logistics cost will be 9 per cent. So we will be more competitive in the international market.» In China, the logistics cost is 8 per cent and in the US and European countries it is 12 per cent, the minister said. The minister further said the automobile industry is one of the important industries that is giving maximum revenue as part of GST to the state governments and the Centre.

Cipla on Wednesday said it has received the nod from Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) for the exclusive distribution and marketing of Afrezza — inhalation human insulin in India. Afrezza is a rapid-acting insulin delivered through an inhaler as compared to current insulins which are given as injections. Taken at the beginning of a meal, Afrezza dissolves rapidly upon oral inhalation into the lungs and delivers insulin quickly to the bloodstream. Cipla said Afrezza starts working in as early as 12 minutes and helps in reducing the rapid increase seen in sugar levels with meals. The effect of Afrezza lasts for about 2-3 hours and it closely resembles the body’s own response to insulin.

National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) of Mumbai has approved Reliance Strategic Business Ventures Limited’s Rs 202 crore resolution plan for Karkinos Healthcare Pvt. Ltd. (KHPL), a tech-driven oncology platform, which was undergoing insolvency proceedings. The Mumbai Bench gave its nod on December 9, 2024, following approval from 100% of committee of creditors (CoC). KHPL entered the Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process (CIRP) on May 21, 2024. The approved plan provides for 100% recovery of dues across all creditor classes, including financial creditors, employees, and suppliers.

Delhi High Court on Wednesday posted on January 17, 2025, the enforcement directorate's plea against the bail granted to former chief minister Arvind Kejriwal in the 2021-22 excise policy-linked money laundering case. The ED counsel urged Justice Manoj Kumar Ohri to defer the hearing in the matter on account of the unavailability of additional solicitor general S V Raju. The request was opposed by senior advocate Vikram Chaudhary, representing the AAP leader, citing «pressing urgency» in the matter. Chaudhary said the agency should withdraw its plea and the court should vacate its stay on the operation of the trial court's order granting bail.

Sapna Singh, known for her work in TV shows like Crime Patrol and Mati Ki Banno, staged a protest in Bareilly after her 14-year-old son, Sagar Gangwar, was found dead under suspicious circumstances. On Wednesday, police arrested two of Sagar's friends, identified as Anuj and Sunny, on charges of murder. «The postmortem report could not confirm the exact cause of death, but indications of poisoning or drug overdose have been found. Viscera samples have been preserved for further examination,» Circle Officer (Faridpur) Ashutosh Shivam told PTI. «Anuj and Sunny confessed during questioning that they had consumed drugs and alcohol with Sagar. The overdose caused Sagar to collapse. Panicking, they dragged his body to a field and left him there,» Inspector Sunil Kumar from Bhuta Police Station added.

Axis Bank's latest report warns that inflation in India is unlikely to ease quickly, as both core and food price indices are expected to remain closely linked. Despite food prices and vegetable costs being at cyclical highs, the report highlights that supply responses may lag the demand boost driven by income-transfer schemes. «In India, we do not see inflation easing quickly: over the long term, core and food price indices move together. Though food relative to core, and vegetables relative to food, are both at cyclical highs, the supply response may lag the demand boost from income-transfer schemes,» said the report titled " India Economic and Market Outlook 2025 ". staffing industry added about 235,000 temporary workers (white and grey collar roles) in the year to September 30, up 5.9% quarter-on-quarter and 17.9% year-on-year, according to a report released by the Indian Staffing Federation (ISF) on Wednesday. Sectors including fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), e-commerce, manufacturing, healthcare, retail, logistics, banking, energy and hospitality drove the growth, it said. As of September, the flexible workforce stands at 1.81 million employed by around 130 ISF members, according to the report.
