Delhi court has set aside the discharge of former cricketer and current head coach of the Indian cricket team Gautam Gambhir, and others in a case where flat buyers were reportedly cheated. Special Judge Vishal Gogne set aside a magisterial court order, saying it reflected «inadequate expression of mind» in deciding the allegations against Gambhir. «The allegations also merit further investigation into the role of Gautam Gambhir,» Judge Gogne wrote in his October 29 order. An alleged cheating case was filed against real estate firms Rudra Buildwell Realty Pvt. Ltd, H R Infracity Pvt Ltd., U M Architectures and Contractors Ltd., and Gambhir, who was a director and brand ambassador of the companies' joint venture.

outsourcing of staff and exam centres, holding maximum entrance exams online and capping the number of attempts in major entrances are among the measures being contemplated by a high-level panel set up by the Centre to review functioning of National Testing Agency (NTA). The Centre had on October 21 sought two weeks time from the Supreme Court to submit the final report of the panel led by former ISRO chief R Radhakrishnan. «The report is almost ready. Several recommendations are being made to streamline the functioning of NTA and the conduct of major entrance exams in the country,» a source said. Among the recommendations that the panel is likely to make are reducing offline exams or opting for hybrid exams where switching to online mode completely is not feasible; capping the number of attempts in major exams including medical entrance NEET and reducing the role of outsourced staff and centres to ensure sanctity of exams is not affected.

The shipment, procured by NAFED under the price stabilization fund, will primarily be released through Azadpur Mandi, with a portion earmarked for retail sale at Rs 35 per kg. Retail prices of onion are ruling at Rs 60-80 per kg in the national capital depending upon the quality and locality.

bankruptcy court has rejected Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) Undertaking’s application to direct the liquidator of Spark Green Energy (Satara) Ltd to categorise it as a secured financial creditor and also admit its claim of Rs 156 crore. The city-based public utility undertaking had approached the Mumbai bench of the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) after the liquidator of Spark Green Energy (Satara) rejected the company’s claim to admit the amount. “The respondent (liquidator) was fully justified in categorizing the appellant as an unsecured financial creditor, given that the charge was not registered with the registrar of companies,” said the division bench of Kuldip Kumar Kareer and a technical member Anil Raj Chellan in its order of October 25. “Therefore, no fault can be found with the impugned order passed by the respondent. Consequently, we reject the appellant's prayer to be considered and classified as a secured financial creditor of the corporate debtor.”

This new model is scheduled to be manufactured at Suzuki Motor Gujarat (India) from the spring of 2025, the companies said in a statement. Toshihiro Suzuki, President of Suzuki Motor (Japan), said, “Suzuki will supply our first BEV to Toyota globally. I am grateful that the collaboration between the two companies has further deepened in this way. While continuing to be competitors, we will deepen our collaborations toward solving social issues, including the realisation of a carbon-neutral society through a multi-pathway approach.”

young volunteers in 315 districts across the country as the first responders to disaster preparedness and response. The 'Yuva Apada Mitra Scheme' was launched at the 20th formation day function of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) here on Monday, an official release said. According to the plan, under the 'Yuva Apada Mitra Scheme', 2,37,326 young volunteers from the youth organisations such as National Cadet Corps (NCC), Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS), Bharat Scouts & Guides (BS&G) and National Service Scheme (NSS) will be trained in 315 districts of 28 states as a first respondents to disaster preparedness and response. Besides, 1,300 trainers will also be prepared under the up-scaling of 'Aapda Mitra Scheme' with an estimated total cost of Rs 469.53 crore.

On October 24, the apex court dealt with a petition filed by a man who had challenged an order of the Patna High Court, directing him to furnish bail bonds after six months in a case against him under the Bihar Prohibition and Excise Amendment Act.

Datawrkz, a subsidiary of listed gaming and media firm Nazara Technologies, on Wednesday said it has fully acquired UK-based growth marketing agency Space & Time. The deal was valued at around Rs 52.3 crore, it said in an exchange filing. The company said acquiring Space & Time will help in expanding across Europe and North America and boosting its growth in the global digital advertising market. It will also boost Datawrkz’s revenue and earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (Ebitda) through cross-selling of products and services, it said.

fiscal deficit for the first half of this fiscal year through September stood at 4.75 lakh crore rupees, or 29.4% of annual estimates, government data showed today. The fiscal deficit widened from 39.3% reported in the comparable year-earlier period. Total receipts stood at 16.37 lakh crore rupees, while overall expenditure in April to September was at 21.11 lakh crore rupees. They were 51% and 43.8% of this fiscal year's budget target.
