For instance, if one candidate has 48 per cent support and another has 45 per cent, that tiny margin might not indicate a significant difference at all. While election-year polls are useful for gauging public sentiment about candidates and issues, they don’t equate to actual election results. Even the freshest poll right before the election reflects opinions before the votes are cast.

Zerodha Mutual Fund has announced the launch of the Zerodha Gold ETF FoF, an open-ended fund-of-funds scheme that invests in units of Gold ETFs. The new fund offer (NFO) for the scheme will open for subscription on October 25 and will close on November 8. The scheme's investment objective is to seek capital appreciation by investing in units of Gold ETFs. Falgu Aviation Leasing Ltd, an aircraft lessor, has approached the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) against SpiceJet Ltd over an unpaid debt of Rs 67 crore. The lessor has said that the debt arose from rental dues for a Boeing 737 that it had leased to the budget carrier. SpiceJet has been entangled in a cycle of settlements and fresh insolvency pleas with the airline being taken to insolvency court by different lessors frequently even as it settles pending insolvency cases.

NASA has delivered a crucial component for the NISAR (NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar) satellite to the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). The radar antenna reflector, essential for the mission, arrived in Bengaluru on October 23, 2024. This reflector plays a key role in focusing microwave signals sent to and from Earth’s surface, allowing NISAR to scan almost all of the planet’s land and ice surfaces every 12 days to gather scientific data. After its arrival aboard a NASA C-130 cargo plane, the radar antenna was transported to ISRO’s Spacecraft Integration and Test Establishment for reintegration with the NISAR spacecraft. The satellite is scheduled for further testing in preparation for its launch from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre on India’s southeastern coast in early 2025. NASA and ISRO will coordinate to finalize the official launch date.

NCP leader Dhananjay Munde, who is re-contesting the upcoming state poll from his Parli seat, on Thursday said no election is easy and he does not take even a local poll lightly. Winning the people's faith in a constituency after every five years is a tough job, Munde told reporters at Parli in Beed district before leaving for filing his nomination.
