breast cancer awareness in a women’s coach of the Delhi Metro’s Yellow Line has ignited significant backlash due to its inappropriate language and imagery.
The campaign, intended to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month, has faced widespread criticism for referring to breasts as “oranges,” a term many deem insensitive and distasteful.
The poster, created by the YouWeCan Foundation, features AI-generated images of women holding oranges on a bus, with the tagline “Check your oranges every month.”
While the message is meant to encourage self-examination for early detection of lumps, social media users have condemned the ad for its trivializing and objectifying language.
Critics argue that comparing body parts to fruit undermines the gravity of breast cancer and disrespects those affected by the disease.
