All about Prabath Jayasuriya, who is set to break a cricket record unbroken since 1896
New Zealand is facing the prospect of their heaviest defeat in Test cricket after being forced to follow on in the second Test against Sri Lanka in Galle. Following a disastrous morning session where Sri Lanka claimed eight wickets, the tourists were asked to bat again, trailing by a massive 514 runs. Sri Lankan left-arm spinner Prabath Jayasuriya was the star of the first innings, taking 6 wickets for just 42 runs, while debutant off-spinner Nishan Peiris also contributed, taking three wickets and dismissing New Zealand opener Tom Latham in the second innings. New Zealand now faces the daunting task of chasing an improbable 511 runs on a turning Galle pitch to avoid an innings defeat. They had already lost the first Test by 63 runs, and a loss in this match would give Sri Lanka their first series win over New Zealand since 2009.

Williamson was dismissed in the 17th over when he tried to steady the ship for the visitors along with night watchman Ajaz Patel. Jayasuriya, however, gave the hosts their first wicket on Day 3.

China stocks rally tested after stimulus-led gains: Markets wrap
Asian shares gained for a fifth day as a rally sparked by support measures from Beijing continued, while US stocks set fresh highs, with investors preparing for further rate cuts. Equity benchmarks rose in South Korea and Australia, while those for Japan were mixed after the yen strengthened against the dollar in the prior two sessions. The Golden Dragon index of US-listed Chinese companies rallied 9.1% in New York trading on Tuesday. The moves follow the best day since 2020 for a gauge of mainland equities after China unveiled a sweeping stimulus package to support the economy and financial markets.
