The recent airstrike is part of Israel's ongoing campaign against Hezbollah, which has been bolstered by significant intelligence efforts. A report from The New York Times highlights that Israel has devoted increased resources to gather intelligence on Hezbollah since the 2006 war, a conflict that ended without a decisive Israeli victory.

Kim Yo Jong, the powerful sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, said Washington is escalating the Ukraine conflict and driving all of Europe to the brink of a nuclear war.

Hamas said on Saturday it mourned Lebanon's Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah following his killing in an Israeli airstrike, saying his death would only fuel the fight against Israel. «Crimes and assassination by the occupation will only increase the determination and the insistence of the resistance in Palestine and Lebanon to go forward with all their might, bravery and pride on the footsteps of the martyrs...and pursue the path of resistance until victory and the dismissal of the occupation,» Hamas said in a statement. Antony Blinken underscored strong U.S. concerns about China's support for Russia's defense industrial base in talks on Friday with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, saying Beijing's talk of peace in Ukraine «doesn't add up.» In a meeting with Wang on the sidelines of the U.N. Criticism of Israel's treatment of Palestinian workers, under scrutiny for decades, has increased at the Geneva-based U.N. labour body since the war started on Oct. 7. The complaint summarised in a statement sent to journalists focuses on Israel's exclusion of some 200,000 Palestinian migrant workers, which Israel justifies on security grounds. It claims unpaid wages and other compensation for them and other Palestinian workers which the unions say could amount to billions of dollars.

liquefied natural gas (LNG) produced from Russia's Arctic LNG 2 project, which is sanctioned by Western countries, Oil Secretary Pankaj Jain said on Friday. «We will not buy (supply from) Arctic LNG 2. We are not buying any sanctioned commodity. Something which has broad-based sanctions, we are not touching it,» Jain told reporters. The Arctic LNG 2 project by Russia's Novatek is subject to Western sanctions over Russia's war with Ukraine. The United States has also imposed sanctions on hundreds of entities and individuals for supporting Russia's war effort including companies supporting the development of Arctic LNG 2 project and its shipment of LNG.
