How an Iranian spy’s intel uncovered Hezbollah leader’s location just before Israel’s strategic airstrike
Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah was killed in an airstrike in Beirut. Reports indicate that an Iranian mole provided Israeli authorities with critical information about his whereabouts just hours before the attack. According to the French newspaper Le Parisien, the mole informed Israeli officials that Nasrallah was at Hezbollah's underground headquarters in Beirut's southern suburbs for a meeting with top members of the organization. Around 1.30 pm IST yesterday (11 am Lebanon time), Israel Defence Forces said in a post on X, «Hassan Nasrallah will no longer be able to terrorize the world.» Later in the day, Hezbollah confirmed the news. «Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah… has joined his great, immortal martyr comrades whom he led for about 30 years,» it said in a statement. The recent airstrike is part of Israel's ongoing campaign against Hezbollah, which has been bolstered by significant intelligence efforts. A report from The New York Times highlights that Israel has devoted increased resources to gather intelligence on Hezbollah since the 2006 war, a conflict that ended without a decisive Israeli victory.

North Korea says US military aid to Ukraine is 'incredible mistake'
North Korea, which has been accused of illegally supplying weapons to Russia, said on Sunday that U.S. military aid worth $8 billion to Ukraine is «an incredible mistake» and playing with fire against nuclear superpower Russia. U.S. President Joe Biden announced the new aid as Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskiy visited Washington to help Kyiv defend itself, including longer-range weapons that will upgrade its ability to strike Russia from safer distances. Kim Yo Jong, the powerful sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, said Washington is escalating the Ukraine conflict and driving all of Europe to the brink of a nuclear war.

Hamas says Nasrallah 'assassination' will only strengthen resistance
Hamas said on Saturday it mourned Lebanon's Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah following his killing in an Israeli airstrike, saying his death would only fuel the fight against Israel. «Crimes and assassination by the occupation will only increase the determination and the insistence of the resistance in Palestine and Lebanon to go forward with all their might, bravery and pride on the footsteps of the martyrs...and pursue the path of resistance until victory and the dismissal of the occupation,» Hamas said in a statement. His death marks a heavy blow to Hezbollah as it reels from an escalating campaign of Israeli attacks. It is also a huge blow to Iran, given the major role he has played in the Tehran-backed regional "Axis of Resistance."

'No place in Iran where Israel can't strike': Benjamin Netanyahu’s UNGA speech sparks diplomatic walkout
Netanyahu delivered a decisive address at the United Nations General Assembly on Friday, declaring that Israel would maintain its military operations against Hezbollah in Lebanon. He warned that the conflict would persist until Israel achieves its strategic goals, amidst escalating international concern over the violence. This speech came as diplomatic efforts to broker a ceasefire have faltered, overshadowed by intensified airstrikes on Hezbollah targets. “Israel has been patient long enough,” Netanyahu stated, referencing the ongoing hostilities with Hezbollah, an Iran-backed militant group active in southern Lebanon. He emphasized, “As long as Hezbollah continues on the path of war, Israel has every right to defend itself and eliminate the threat.” Netanyahu further proclaimed, “If you strike us, we will strike you; there is no place in Iran where the long arm of Israel cannot reach.”

Unions file ILO complaint over Israel's treatment of Palestinian workers since Gaza war
trade unions filed a complaint on Friday against Israel with the International Labour Organization, alleging that its treatment of Palestinian workers since the Gaza war began had breached a global treaty. Criticism of Israel's treatment of Palestinian workers, under scrutiny for decades, has increased at the Geneva-based U.N. labour body since the war started on Oct. 7. The complaint summarised in a statement sent to journalists focuses on Israel's exclusion of some 200,000 Palestinian migrant workers, which Israel justifies on security grounds. It claims unpaid wages and other compensation for them and other Palestinian workers which the unions say could amount to billions of dollars.

Toll mounting in Lebanon, Israel snubs ceasefire plan
Hezbollah, defying calls from allies including the US for a halt in fighting. Israeli warplanes bombarded Lebanon, including a strike on the southern suburbs of Beirut that shook the capital. On its own side of the border, the Israeli army staged an exercise simulating a ground invasion. The relentless pressure on Iran-backed Hezbollah in Lebanon, including intense airstrikes and assassinations of some of its senior commanders, raised concern that of a wider war spreading across the region. The military, which has vowed to secure Israel's northern border and return thousands of Israeli citizens to communities there, said the exercise of its 7th brigade took place a few kilometres from the Lebanese border.
